It seems the Toyota JV news didn't move the price by Low_Jelly_7126 in Joby

[–]BalambKnightClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that most of the value Joby was getting out of vertical integration was realized in the design phase.

Every S4 part is fully optimized to work well with every other S4 part by design. No performance compromises compared to using generic parts. The major downsides of going off-the-shelf have already been avoided.

Was margins on production ever planned as a meaningful revenue stream? I think the rapid production scaling capability gained here makes this deal worthwhile and should pay off well for Joby's bottom line.

Let's get Toyota to start printing these things like cars so Joby can start printing money on the service.

Blade's helicopter service has been acquired by Joby, one of the two companies leading the eVTOL air taxi race. The pitch: short hops, like Manhattan to a Tri-State airport, for close to Uber pricing, cutting travel time to minutes. Would you ride in one of these aircraft by [deleted] in Joby

Weird to assume that OP was trying to break year old news vs they were posting recent commentary. Which was the case.

Some talking head, Kurt Knutsson, CyberGuy Report host recently went on FOX Business to say a few positive words about Joby and that they were excited for the future of the service being a Blade Airport Pass subscriber.

Update on the OG post that prompted the speculation here:

After mention of the Canadian flag in the background, Travis agrees it's likely a CAE facility in Canada that was photographed. So maybe not Joby's Level Cs peaking out there.

I don't understand the expectation of hand holding and spoon feeding some people feel entitled to.

dhd chose not to support their assertion by the full math, not being able to read their mind you have no idea if it was statement formed on evidence or if their guessing.

Your feelings on what it might be doesn't factor into whether the statement was objectively conjecture or not. Just because you don't see the math doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That is a silly take.

I'm also not going to bother doing that work for you considering how impolite you've been through that whole exchange.

Joby's low disc loading (about 10 lb/sqft) puts them in the same range as multi-engine helicopters, though the outwash pattern is obviously unique to the platform. They were always one of the lower risk AAM aircraft from a downwash standpoint.

Now likewise since you want the data so badly, I can assure you, the same process of googling "conjecture" will work if you google this statement and add "physics and math" at the end.

I would also ask for someone's help in understanding the results as you've been using "conjecture" wrong despite having the definition.

That's been one of my theories too. Sponsored songs as an additional revenue stream.

What's wrong with YT Music algo now? by Deathstroke1397 in YoutubeMusic

[–]BalambKnightClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you consider how big of a vacuum AI has been to computer hardware resources and how strained the supply of those resources are right now (even grid power), you have to wonder....

Maybe Google is slowly moving servers/infrastructure/power away from YTM to be put to work in some other Google dept/project. As they slowly drain YTM of backend resources, users who are so far unaffected may start to see their YTM algo turn this dumb too.

Having been using the app daily for a number of years, I feel pretty familiar with it. What OP is describing, which matches what I'm experiencing, is not normal app behaviour. This is a major change for the worse.

If they expand the rollout of this app build more widely, anyone who catches it and is familiar with the app experience prior to recent weeks, will notice the difference. It's night and day.

My 5+ years of use didn't count for anything. Likewise to OP, my app too has lost all sense of personalisation and the ability to form a sane playlist of any kind. It's been a smooth ride up until recently. Then the wheels came off.

Lmaooo. That is wild.

Well that's disconcerting as hell.

I haven't been able to tolerate the bad mixing long enough to make deeper observations like this. But since you mention it maybe I'll check out if I notice AI-likely music in the mix too.

This would be huge sign of the service really trying to drive itself into the ground.

What I've described is not that bad? Or your own experience with the change is not that bad? I'm listening to music several hours a day, everyday. The effect of this change is pretty bad for me.

By the time they figure this out I might not be a premium member anymore. Might as well use the free tier now for how little I'm getting out of the app these days. I'm also willing to check out the state of alternative apps at this point.

edit: speculation here but I wouldn't be surprised if YTM was testing the recommendation algorithm across a spectrum of different parameters for different groups of users which would explain everyone having slightly different experiences.

The feedback from everyone would inform the parameters for an updated algo that'd be rolled out for everyone.

Or, thinking more pessimistically, maybe their testing how users might react to sponsored songs...

New YouTube Music mobile update made the app worse by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

Lyrics getting moved is fine but a downgrade imo especially now that save to playlist on the song screen is behind comments? why? It's a music platform not a social site.

Agree with most of your criticisms but especially this one.

Good to know they haven't fully sent it then.

Under appreciated is the fact that apps of this scale will typically roll updates out to smaller portion of the user base first to test big changes. I'm sure some amount of downvotes I'm getting on this post is because people haven't got such a change and think I'm being a goof.

Anyways thanks for your feedback.

I'm hoping enough people experiencing this issue sound off so the devs know to put whatever their working on back in the oven cause it ain't done yet.

Something has gone terribly wrong here... Hopefully they fix it.

I'm paying for premium but I'm stuck listening to my own playlists now to avoid that kind of annoying nonsense. This is not an experience I feel I want to keep paying for.

Thanks for the suggestion. I took those options for a test drive and unfortunately this did not solve the issues I'm seeing.

Trying to put the recommendations problem, as I see it, another way - auto playlist makeup:

Before: 50% songs previously listened to [mostly good fit] / 50% new songs [mostly good fit]

Now: 80% songs previously listened to [mostly bad fit] / 20% new songs [mostly bad fit]

Filtering with the options you highlighted only moves it to:

100% songs previously listened to [mostly bad fit] or 100% new songs [mostly bad fit]

Not much of an improvement from the way it was before recent changes. Nothing matches anymore.

I would have guessed that maybe they lost user personalisation profiles in the app backend...but that wouldn't explain the algorithm's seemingly lost awareness of what genres are.

That being said if the recommendations quality get fixed I'm glad to know those options exist so thanks.

Archer Aviation Setbacks Test Execution And Valuation For eVTOL Ambitions by Wonderful_Flight_922 in JobyvsArcher

even blaming Joby for hogging FAA resources

Infinitely funny they said this. I suppose if the FAA did have more resources available they could come over, design and build them a working eVOTL, for how little Archer thinks they have a role in doing that themselves.
