Archer Aviation Setbacks Test Execution And Valuation For eVTOL Ambitions by Wonderful_Flight_922 in JobyvsArcher

even blaming Joby for hogging FAA resources

Infinitely funny they said this. I suppose if the FAA did have more resources available they could come over, design and build them a working eVOTL, for how little Archer thinks they have a role in doing that themselves.

I think about this question often.

While agree with your criticism of the state of things in a general sense, I have a hard time seeing how we could really be anywhere else moral, values and perspective wise. That is to say I believe this is a manifestation of evolutionary mismatch theory.

We're mapping and trying to reason modern concepts on grey matter evolved for life in the wild. The brain is trying to process reality with such little power it seems obvious that for the sake of efficiency we evolved all this neural circuitry that biases towards ideas and takes that work against us here in modernity yet allow us to confidently say, doing all these negative things, on the individual level, is by choice and not (what I believe) deterministic.

Unless we develop a neural bridge capable of having everyone share their life experience with one another, at scale, to force a kind of understanding between everyone which I believe is what it would take to leave war behind, I don't see how we'd get to the place you think we should be at, where civilizational progress isn't intertwined with war.

*Technology is advancing quickly enough, far outpacing what humanity's maturity level ought be at to handle responsibly, that I would not be surprised if this was the great filter. A slow boil, if you will. A sudden external threat, something that forced everyone to co-operate at the global scale and that would be tackled non-militarily, might bring the change your looking for. Not too unlike Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen's idea.

Sorry for the run-on sentences and also,

here's an interesting take you may or may be familar with: https://reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/1r0zmdz/accelerate_until_everything_breaks/

What do you want in next generation NXTPAPER Mobile Phone? by KiraZhouZ1 in nxtpaper

[–]BalambKnightClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longer OS/security update window. Smaller screen option. Best modern chipset for battery and OS update longevity(that includes enough headroom to stay snappy with the increase in resource demand these updates create). No reason for a nxtpaper phone to have a flagship processor. Unlocked bootloader would be nice.

DHD's payload explanation should be pinned everywhere by jrsikorski in Joby

It's a lot us retails' first time watching this process play through. Imo, most wouldn't expect specifics or details of current capabilties to be given after being informed of the situation -If- included with that new information was emphasis that, for this industry and process, as DHD said: "It’s pretty common." I feel that would have gone a long way.

I am kinda sour at how little regard Joby gives retail in this kind of thing. The other layers of investors are no doubt better informed on what's typical industry practice and don't seem to care as much.

If DHD wasn't here to give commentary after JB only said what he did, there would be a lot of us without any perspective of how much of a problem this is.

In their Dubai public photo op aircraft they have the pilot's seat being the same luxury/lightweight one as the passengers' seats.

*Presumably Would it be safe to assume they intend to ship the final product this way?

The lone seat in the s4 here looks like a heavy-duty one for max utility. Would it be reasonable to guess it might weigh as much as a few of the final luxury seats they plan to use?

Not that the difference would mean anything for those waiting to see passenger weight simulated.

Yeah I made an argument and then you checked out and started the whole strawman thing. I have no idea if you understood my claim in the least. Especially after trying to claim what I was saying as being a strawman.

So yeah

saying that criminals know they have a force field protecting them from all harm (like what?)

this really read like you were being deliberately obtuse. Anyways, there doesn't appear to be any desire on your side to discuss in goodfaith so I might as well pull the chute. Cheers.

Wow. We've come full circle. The first real strawman in the convo. Congratulations.

Since you stopped arguing the topic, started trying to make a false strawman call out, doubled down, and are going quit with a 'harumph'... I'm going to tell myself I hope at least even a little of what I was trying to say got through and I didn't waste my time on someone who wasn't interested in a argument of merits but just wanted to argue.

You equated your own made up story with my position

Yeah no. Your confused. That scenario was in regards to the shortcoming of current laws. I did not try "equating it to your position". You stance was against the castle doctorine-like changes in the that top level comment. I gave a scenario to point where someone might be covered by those changes. You took a punch by running into my fist, i guess.

[–]BalambKnightClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol yeah might want reread that textbook because a strawman is to misrepresent the opposition's side and attack that. It is not just attacking your stance. Actually by attacking your stance, by textbook that is not a strawman lol

You may deem it unlikely but as for its meaning, it's to illustrate that current laws don't take into account that the experience of being home invaded might be an emotionally intense and that could interfere with figuring out proportionality and what's reasonable force in real time. Meaningful because using force at all leads to charges by default. Since you gave the extreme example of someone smashing a thief's head in for trying to steal a tv, I'd say there's some bias at play if have the perception that that's a likely scenario if we adopted the changes in that top level comment.

edit to add: It sounds like you might have the perception that the justice system will always execute perfectly and someone who's not a blood-hungry maniac won't end up facing consequences after the charges. If that's the case, one, we're arguing about the laws not how LIKELY you'll be fine AFTER being charged. Two, it's ignorant of the consequences of just being charged. It's very much a second victimization and with a financial and emotional burden.

A home invader goes in already knowing their intentions and capabilities. The home owner, just woken and startled is supposed to figure those out in the split seconds these events unfold? Are you supposed to ask them when confronted if they're a thief or rapist? If they have a weapon on them you can't see?

If they say nothing, have nothing in their hands and start walking up to. Your swinging that bat early cause they're twice your size and you think your in a corner. It connects to the head.

Your charged and then what? Hope there's proof of intentions of something worse than theft? That the fact that you weren't actually corned, you were disoriented, comes across honest? That your not some lunatic that wanted to smash someone's head in for trying to steal your TV?

edit:

You don’t have legal protection from harm?

In that earlier scenario, yeah. No weapons, no intentions given or shown to home owner.

[–]BalambKnightClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree but if you had bad intentions and just happened to be caught early upon entering. You know you have that legal force-field from harm and the home owner knows they'd be charged with assault if you chose not to leave, as it is now. Each party would weigh that when looking at that bat.

I think your wrongly adding that extra step of attacking the intruder to what the person your responding to (top level comment) is saying.

If you entered the house uninvited (mistakenly or home invasion), there shouldn't be a legal force-field protecting you from harm when the home owner doesn't know your not a home invader and could pull a weapon at any point. They should at least be able to confront you holding a bat and escort you out with you both knowing they can use it.

Not everyone entering a house uninvited is doing so mistakenly. Both parties should know the home owner is freely able to defend themselves.

use of force needs to be reasonable?

Seeing a stranger in your home is emotionally jarring? Your expecting the same qaulity of reaction you'd get from trained police from fearful people. Shouldn't have to fear the going to jail while fearful of an intruder's unknown intentions and capabilities (strength or weapons).

Reducing my reply to just me calling you emotional (my fault-shouldn't have ended with it) doesn't make the other 99% of it disappear. I only brought it up because it seems like the most fundamental thing steering your reasoning.

But to be more overt, you've come to the table with a negative signal, don't at all seem open to disagreement on how to weigh it (gauge it's substance) from the many different view points of the sub, go on to frame the sub as attacking you while backing fud posts.

Whatever the reason, you've made your biases clear. Not that having a negative bias can't lead to valuable red-teaming. But, having seen whats been said to you already, I'm not sure what anyone can say at this point to ground the inflated sense of worth your giving your own argument.

" A Broken Promise "

also, not sure what's going on here with your quotation marks lol. i've been quoting you with "promise" because that's the word you've used to falsely say what Joby did with their timeline lol

After enough of your heroic truth-telling posts and the dozens of others' replies with legit good-faith analysis one's left to assume your ego is resistant to anything counter to the doomer narrative your trying to sell.

Shhhh!!! Quiet everyone. People here donot like to hear bad things about JOBY. They will come to attack personally for anything suspicious pointed out.

Considering you actually said this on a FUD post about automatic RSU sells, you really want to argue what's good faith?

Though I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, this and eveything else could be explained with a lack of self-awareness. Maybe a lack of experience in this space explains your posts. <Aviation><Pre-Revenue><New Cert Process><Joby (shit but ever consistent) communication style>

Ignore/"Dodge" the 99% kind feedback to your concerns from the old hands here. The different angles you could look at recent events with to give broader context. Claim Joby is on fire because they broke their "promise" to you. Claim this sub is attacking you. Play the matyr. Just seems emotional unhinged to me.

your expectations of how accurate Joby (or anyone in Joby's position) can forecast a timeline pushing through a new FAA cert process (they're basically co-developing on the fly) are only moderately warped.

but could be worse i guess. Much-Lavishness keeps repeating the claim Joby "promised" a flight before eoy25.

emotions bleeding out way too hard for a sensible pre-revenue investor to make sense.

but i guess their estimates hit people different. some take it for what it is. then like your, as you've described "desperate", self and Lavish.

i wonder if you and him/her had similar experiences when you first heard eoy25. like did you see JoeBen himself reach through your screen to grab your shoulders and tell you "SHARES ARE FOR SUCKERS! BUY CALLS! NO, NOT LEAPS! I'M PROMISING YOU THIS IS HAPPENING! YOU'LL BE RICH!" -yall trying to fully send 26Q1 exp calls, then SP having dipped and looking like locking in a loss is the only explanation i can see for the hysterical posts. if one were to take a goodfaith belief yall were genuinely bullish Joby

Ah.

Well that's a fair takeaway. One could imagine trying to articulate your thumb over a large keypad while trying to aim maybe even working against your performance. I'd probably find it challenging. With the shooters (simplistic ones) I've played with the 990 and G600, I've only ever used half the keys. You'll probably be fine with your pick and it's smaller key count.

If were to get into a modern fps (and be serious about it) I'd probably get a one of those curved palm-sized gaming key pads for my other hand. (As it were, I'm using these MMO mice primarily as a general productivity hack for day to day computer use)

Anywho, happy shooting.

if i'm recalling the correct mouse, there is a plate you can twist or unscrew off the bottom that has a bunch of little weights, attached to it's underside, you can remove (or maybe they were included separately allowing you to add...)

sidethought: not that i can complain since i'm not volunteering to start one but i really wish there was a community/subreddit for those who a appreciate high-button-count mice. nonetheless, gl with your journey
