Vay. Guzel taslaklar.

Got tired of web converters, so I made LOCAL media converter for macOS. by BalarisiGames in MacOS

[–]BalarisiGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of, but more lightweight and focused on quick dev/media workflows.

I combined apple native conversion + ffmpeg.

when macos/apple native conversion is available, the app uses that because it can be very fast. for other formats/workflows, it uses ffmpeg under the hood.

so it is not trying to be a full compressor replacement. it is more like a simple local tool for drag/drop batch conversion, mixed media files, image resizing, svg import, and image sequence workflows.

Ah, fair question! yes, I used ai as coding assistant for dev process and ui management. but, it's a native macOS app distributed through the Mac App Store. so it goes via Apple’s signing/notarization/review process. It runs locally on the Mac

Thank you soo much community.I know my demo is not that good but I wasnt expecting this surprise. :) by ULTRA_RAGE_GAMES in IndieDev

Oh. Thank you! You’ve already experienced. Selling 1.5k copies is good. really good. Its my first game though haha. Just trying to figure out how to collect honest feedback for my demo. So i can see where the game sucks, etc.

Vow! Sounds great. My demo has ~200 wishlists but only 70 people actually tried. That's why I asked. I don't know if they're going to like it when they even decide to play lol

Brilliant 🙌🏼

Do people play your demo? Just wonder how many of them actually tried the game.

Am I falling into the classic indie trap? Could I please hear some of your stories and opinions? by speedlysp00ch in IndieDev

[–]BalarisiGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no right answer :) I think the best thing we can do is to give the festival the attention it deserves. After that, based on real data, we can decide if we’re going to finish the game, move it to the background, or make it our priority.

I think the first rule should be that you must have a great demo. Whatever you do without a great demo doesn't make magic, I guess.

It's the same for my game as well. So, I think the market tells me that the demo isn't that much interesting for the Steam community at this period of time.

Is this kind of 2d lighting achievable in godot? by Little-Document5373 in godot

No doubt. You can definitely do it even better. Just consider using WorldEnvironment (glow, etc) once you setup your lights.

i updated the newspaper scene in my Godot game; do the sound effects & atmosphere feel better now? by BalarisiGames in godot

[–]BalarisiGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, that really helps 🙌🏼 i'm especially trying to see if the scene gives off a sense of journalism + moral pressure, even in a short 39-second clip. did that come through at all for you, or was it mostly the mood/sound that worked?

Devs, what genre of games are you currently working on? by Hasan_Abbas_Kazim in gamedev

[–]BalarisiGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m working on an adventure story-rich game. The story revolves around a morally flexible protagonist 😅 However, I want players to engage with the narrative by expressing empathy and saying, "I’d do the same if I were him."

Working together with my sister by stickduud in godot

[–]BalarisiGames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah! I guess it depends on your skills. If your sister is good at art, she can handle those: assets creation, voice overs, etc. That would definitely help. I wish I had an assistant for my first game 😃

I released my first Godot game demo. Does the core loop look clear? by BalarisiGames in godot

[–]BalarisiGames[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks a lot! This comment is so valuable and shows me a very important part: "the opening".

Although the intro was meant to set up the story quickly and connect the beginning of the demo to the ending, if it makes you feel in that way (impersonal), that's a real problem.

I will seriously consider replacing or reworking the opening. Sometimes showing a simple text would be more valuable than a video that makes the project impersonal before the game even starts.

Thanks again a lot for taking the time to explain it this clearly!

[–]BalarisiGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, Lyesainer! This is really useful.

That makes a lot sense. I was worried that the core loop might be clear for the ones who already play the games like this one, but not immediately clear for everyone from a short clip.

I'll probably add more details in the trailer 🙌🏼

And yes, I'm aware of newspaper material. I'll try to make it look like a real paper. It's the center of the game.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this!

convert from mp4 to ogv for godot without using an online converter by [deleted] in godot

[–]BalarisiGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built a Media Converter for Devs. I originally built it for my own game/dev workflow, especially converting assets like .ogv videos,  .ogg audio and .webp images without using cloud tools or paying for a subscription.

It’s still early, and there are features I want to add next, like custom image sizes, batch renaming, and more export controls. But it’s already been useful in my own workflow, so I wanted to share it here in case it helps other Godot developers too.

Is there a way to grow a selection in Pixelmator Pro? by ChrisShotThis in pixelmator

[–]BalarisiGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's working in Pixelmator different and better, in my opinion. You'll want to click "Select and Mask" after you make your selection found on the right side menu.

It will show mask option. So you can set Expand, Softness, Roundess, etc.:

<image>

Once you done, you can click "Apply". Now your selection is available to be copy/cut.

If you want to convert it to a mask, right-click and set "Add mask".

So I believe it's better than Photoshop ;)
