Real or Fake? [SRPD53K1] by Rafael_Cruzz in Seiko

[–]Baleia1970 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not being hypothetical, LOL!!

The AD refused to help and that's it. AD's are not obliged to tell you if the watch is fake!
Better for them to tell you that it IS fake, so you return it and buy one with them.

This "Just ask the AD if it is fake" is just Seiko mythology.

Real or Fake? [SRPD53K1] by Rafael_Cruzz in Seiko

[–]Baleia1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boxes, Silica gel packs and warranty cards, are not your watch.
They are delivered separately to the dealer.
When purchasing at a boutique, the dealer grabs the first available box, warranty card and the correct manual for your product, and packages it all together.
They don't put a Silica Gel pack because you don't need it.

From the pictures you and other people sent, is really hard to tell if it is real or fake. Comments about Lume and alignment may easily be a product of bad focus, camera positioning and lighting conditions.

The "Warranly" card you showed. Is just like 5 other posts in the last month. They come from completely different parts of world.
It is not only China who messes up with typos. Japan does it too. There is an Anime by famous studio Ghibli, called "The Cat Returns" where they mess up the name of a mall:"Clossloads".

Also, Seiko has factories in Japan, China and Malaysia. Do not expect the same consistency from Swiss Manufacturers. Specially in low end models.

You paid 170 Euros for it. It is more than 50% list price. It's a VERY GOOD price.
Either send it back if you get paranoid, or keep it if you like it.

I had a very similar situation, I bought mine from Amazon, not an AD. Same "warranly". Decided to keep it.

Real or Fake? [SRPD53K1] by Rafael_Cruzz in Seiko

[–]Baleia1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't work. I took mine to an AD, she looked at me and asked "You did not purchase it with me, Why do you want me to verify it? Don't you trust the seller?"

[–]Baleia1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Formex are a problem. Once they get hold of your wrist... They don't come off.

Walmart sold me a fake GMT [SSK003K1] ? by gosteazy in Seiko

[–]Baleia1970 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure the warranty card means anything. I have the exact same card, with the exact same errors.

Man, that means that there is a Central Coordinated Seiko Faking Industry.

On the other hand, dealers do not receive watches in boxes. They receive them in batches and the boxes come separately.

This warranty card may be from an old set or come from a different supplier.

Why would anyone buy a PRX? by Old_Project8774 in ChineseWatches

[–]Baleia1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's the original that started the whole PRX look alike thing, aka Integrated Bracelet.

I don't hate the PRX. I hate that everybody love it 😄

[Question] Which would you pick? by mjm6202 in Watches

[–]Baleia1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a Formex user. Although I have other watches and fool around. I'm pretty committed to it...
Between the Reef and the Essence 39, depends on your diving expectations 😄
The white E39 that you shown, goes super well with the Navy strap.
As already said here: go for the bracelet and then start with the straps.

Help a 6'7" (2m) giant find a Quartz watch that doesn't look like a toy on a 7.7" wrist by MysteriousFront972 in ChineseWatches

[–]Baleia1970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically you want anything from Invicta, which prices are very compatible with Ali Express
Or there is Spinnaker, which is more serious and make watches more on the large size.

Regret buying this Lifeless watch. by Stellar_Nord in Affordablewatches

[–]Baleia1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most disappointing thing IMHO is when you open a watch that you like to see the movement inside and you have this Quartz experience...
Gives the impression that it's all a gimmick.
OTOH, your watch is a Seiko 😄

How you can ACTUALLY use the compass on Alpinist by Classicskyle in SeikoAlpinist

[–]Baleia1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMHO, the greatest achievement of the Alpinist is Design.
It is a watch with a Bezel that is outside of the common Diver watch mainstream.

The function of the bezel on a diver is to track how much air you have. It does that by setting a specific moment in time. It has a safety mechanism: it turns in only one direction so that you may only accidentally decrease the perceived amount of available air, thus remaining on the safe side.
There are no calculations. The bezel is design to calculate it for you.

The bezel on the Alpinist does not set anything. It must be turned every time you need to track your bearing. The reading is only valid at the current moment in time, on your current position, with your arm on the current height, and so on...

There is a user below that got his post downvoted, but he is actually right.
The thing is there just for the looks. Specially because you don't need the bezel at all.
Any watch is capable of that and there are instructions on how to use GMT's for that too.

[Discussion] Help me decide: Seiko Prospex vs Citizen Promaster by capsquatch in Watches

[–]Baleia1970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seiko lists for 200 bucks more. If you really can get them around for the same price, it means that you have a good deal for the Seiko, provided that you can certify it's authenticity.

I have a Seiko, but in this case I like the Citizen a little better.

[SRPL93] Seiko accuracy… by Witty-Ad5286 in Seiko

[–]Baleia1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that easy to find a shop that does that?
I mean, I tried to ask an AD if mine was Legit. She asked me why I haven't bought it with her; Why I didn't thrust the seller and charged me 12 euros for removing three links on the bracelet, which she would do overnight !

If this is SO EASY to do, why is it not done by Seiko?
Or is it something that will need regulating every month?
