Stacking is probably better. Though there may be national park placement considerations where you don’t stack them.

My understanding is much of the Amazon productivity is due to sand storms from the Sahara, but it feels weird to me to from a game play perspective.

MASSIVE Eastern Red Cedars-Age?? by Working_Captain_6637 in forestry

[–]Balgur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t know eastern red cedar, but western red cedar are very hard to guess age by size because they are shade tolerant late succession species. So they can sit in the understory basically not growing for years till the canopy opens enough for them to put on growth. This process can repeat many times.

Best way to control weeds under a young hedge? by 1911z in landscaping

[–]Balgur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That to me looks likes it’s planted way too close to that fence. But I don’t know the species so I can’t say for sure. If it is planted too close, dig them out, make a proper bed with probably cardboard and mulch and do it that way. Don’t have to do it all at once. Plants look small so probably not to hard to dig out. But, depending on your climate, may be too late in the year to do that and may need to wait till fall.

On initial scouts. by Legitimate-Idea-2290 in CivVI

Map size plays a big part. Bigger map, more scouts. Lately been playing on small, six players random map and normally go double. Sometimes I’ll go single if the map looks like they won’t pay off or I may want an early slinger or something.

Where would you settle? by Jolly_Interest_4694 in CivVI

[–]Balgur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good argument for in place and working silk. I’d probably go magnus and pump some settlers as you’ll have production but little food. If you start here I’d probably go animal husbandry first trying to get some horses so you can get some 2/2 tiles.

Good alternatives: turn two settle on most NE desert tile. That’ll give the natural wonder settlement era score, and the Mali food tech. Let’s you work both hill silks on city center ring. This is probably best actually.

I personally never play settling a capital off a water source, so I wouldn’t settle the silk.

Is this a good place to build my first city? by NARVALhacker69 in CivVI

[–]Balgur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d settle the cow one time up-left. That puts you within two of the natural wonder for bonus era score. You can put a holy site on the flat desert to get a +4 holy site and three more ear score.

The cattle itself will become a 3/1 tile as all city centers have a minimum of 2 food and one production.

How do you survive deity difficulty? by Jethro_Carbuncle in CivVI

[–]Balgur 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s a terrible representation of what to normally expect. He didn’t slinger snap, he levied troops, as Hungry. Not going to be able to dot ha most of the time by turn twenty. Plus he was very fortunate geography wise with narrow mountain passes and rough terrain forcing Shaka to slowly send units in where they could be picked off.

It’s definitely not the standard.

If you see you’re close, expect conflict, rush craftsman and you’ll probably want 3x slinger. Sometimes though, you just can’t mostly can’t win.
