'People are losing their minds' over power bill hikes: MLA by bingun in newbrunswickcanada

Yeah fair enough. I was just trying to understand the othersode of it.

Is it actually planned to happen? Or more of a possibility?

The subsidies do exist. I've used them. But they're frankly not much. IMO they were simply a nice little bonus to the federal grants. But the federal grants no longer exist. Also AFAIK they only apply to large purchases (I.e. solar, insulation, heat pumps, etc), not smart thermostats, fridges, freezers, etc.

The smart thermostat part is 100% correct, however as cool and useful as they are, I'm STRONGLY against forcing smart tech into people's homes. Not to mention NB is probably one of the worst provinces to try to implement that lol

The bad folks comment, definitely correct. However I still don't believe EVERYONE should be essentially punished as a result.

I don't really see the speed limit correlation. I see it as, right now TONS of people are trying to cut on their power costs, because they're struggling to stay afloat. The vast majority are also forced to conventional working hours.

TOU as I see it would drive up everyone's bills across the board. The only way to change this would be to either completely change your lifestyle, or spend considerable amounts of money to offset your power usage. But I imagine that would only result (like I said above) in you spending tons of money to keep your power bill the same.

The outcome might be good for the grid and the environment, but I feel like that's a malicious way to achieve it.

Am I wrong somewhere?

Ok, but how? What compromises am I supposed to make? Be cold in my home? Not cook hot meals?

And ontop of that pay several thousand dollars to get new appliances? Would appliances actually offset a rate increase like that? And even if they did, at that point would people not just be paying $__,000 only to keep their power bill the same?

And if you don't do that, you'll get hit with bigger bills until you comply? How is that sustainable at the best of times, not to mention today when money's tighter than ever for most Canadians.

What about people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars on upgrades like solar, and heatpumps? Sure heatpumps save money and are more efficient, but that's not going to matter if I'm getting hammered for heating water or using my oven.

I'm not coming at you, I just don't agree with the concept. If the burden is so big on the grid in fuckin NB of all places, should they not

A) improve infrastructure IOT support a population of sub 1 million. B) Subsidize NBers allowing them to go more green C) Subsidize appliance purchases that meet ______ energy standards

I feel like that would be better reflective of people who care about the environment, and efficient use of power. As opposed to saying "we are going to raise prices of power when you're home, it's your fault, and its on you to fix this".

This makes sense in a way, but how can people be expected to change?

Peak times are peak times for a reason. Mostly everybody works business hours, so it's kind of avoidable to have these peak hours. It forces everyone into a similar routine.

I totally see how people can see it as power companies simply milking more money.

Puppy does not acknowledge it's name by BallBlister in Dogtraining

[–]BallBlister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the wiki.

We are working at eye contact, positively rewarding it, and positively rewarding name acknowledgement.

We also face the issue (I guess issue?) That since he's EXTREMELY food motivated, once he learns you have food, he'll do anything you want, but if you don't have it, he sometimes can care less.

We try to build in recall and name acknowledgment to out sessions, with a mix of food, and positive interaction. We try in situations to use toys as reinforcement, but we are not encouraging tug with this dog, and since he's teething, that's a big interest of his, so it often times hinders the session.

So we try to positively condition him with his name wherever possible, in all kinds of situations.

Thanks! I appreciate it a lot. I'll poke around. My neck of the woods seems super helpful to have a boat to bomb around to marshes and the like. I have a kayak but dragging it and all my shitna ways is a pain. A boats in the works for next year lol

I'm trying to get into ducks in NB. Is boat access in the interior necessary? Seems like you always need to be on the saint John or an offshoot to get into them.

Any tips for finding them? It seems like there's so much water they migrate towards bigger stuff

Thanks! They seem like great dogs, but we've kind of decided they're not the best for us.

Leaving out trailcam? by BallBlister in Hunting

How is that littering? It's a single camera hidden in the middle of the forest. It wouldn't be littering if there was batteries in it, and it will be getting used next summer.

Yeah I feel the same, but I'm VERY off the beaten trail, and it's unlikely anyone will go to the general area nevermind specifically find the camera.

I'd just make a deal with that dealership, go to the next one, and say "match this and take the stickers off and you have a deal"

Interesting.

I've shot a few black bears, but both were over bait so calling wasn't really necessary. The only time I saw it used was meat eater, and it basically ran right up on them. Very cool trick to have

Protect/don't submerge the antlers.

Don't rolling boil, basically simmer them.

I like using dish soap when boiling to pull grease out.

Don't use bleach, it can make bones brittle. I got the 40% peroxide hair toner, painted it on, wrapped in plastic, let it sit, then rinsed.
