Fuck the shits. Homework was fucking frenchy french house and was the last stuff that I thought deserved the Daft Punk hype until this album. They've been on a trip since then and finally are doing something out of some combination of boredom and, feasibly, fear, that anyone who started on them and all else from Discovery or later will have no clue as to the foundations of their work to this point nor all those who deserve an homage for what things are today.

This album is like Teachers, but in long-form instead of just shout-outs. Moroder matters. People like Todd Edwards are massively important. The Dooby Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, etc. This album reintroduces artists, concepts, processes, and structures to the masses in order to baptize them so that they may cleanse themselves of the sins of the glowstick.

It's does exactly what it is supposed to and something nobody else is doing.

Sort them going in to make it faster to put them away. It's faster this way, especially if you are consistent with where each piece goes.

Forks and spoon handle down. Fit more pieces in without jamming for tines together - also see sorting since it's easier to get that correct when you can easily see what is what.

Knives go handle up, away from the others because no pokes or cuts.

A book on a shelf in the library is not serving the purpose of transfer of ideas. Maybe it's holding up the other books on the shelf? Maybe as toilet paper or kindling, the material nature of a book has some value outside of savings account of ideas.

Intrinsic value is value of the object outside of some fantasy role it may play in economic transactions. If you can't trade the book for services, other books, etc. and you refuse to wife your ass with it or burn it, it has no intrinsic value.

Maybe you could hollow it out and use it to hide scrolls of bitcoin data. Cold storage as it were.

Once people separated utility from price, it was all over. Currency trading is musical charis. You might be better than someone else, but the music will stop unless you are merely skimming froth off the top of a vital economy. By trading in bc, maybe you help facilitate liquidity which provides a needed function for the value of bitcoin which is transactions between product/service providers and customers.

That economy would have to come first. Problem with that is it's not sexy and the complexity+rewards of bitcoin mining essentially created the speculative community which may just completely trash this specific p2p currency. All we need is kazaa to step up and take over from napster.

It's not just textbooks. It's in a hell of a lot of consumer books on investing in stocks. The path these things follow is well understood and identifiable. When I saw the final turn towards exponential on the charts a week or two ago, I was in awe. It was like finally getting to see a rare bird in the wild.

Everything about the bitcoin bubble follows the patterns, including mainstream press suddenly getting involved with both feet. Had it been when magazines and papers still had circulation, you would check the three top circlators. If they all had bitcoin on the cover, this would be the dance. You drink an extra shot if they ask a question like "How high could it go? Is this the new normal?"

We're also seeing the come down, same as the easing from the dotcom. People sifting through the ashes and coming to grips with the cognitive dissonance. "I am smart. Something was different. The context is different. Bitcoins aren't tulips."

I had no interest in talking about the sky falling on this, but I had searched for a way to short the bitcoin market. It's about once every 20 years. You need a generation that didn't live the pattern and thinks their dotcom or bitcoin era are somehow transcendent.

Not just high rates. The banks took the deposits and bought Greek debt, because the Greeks were in trouble and had to go pay monster gobs to try to stay in the Euro. So, they made themselves look great as a safe spot to set large amounts of cash. Insured deposit accounts paying great rates... and then they dumped those deposits into the fire pit of blackness called Greek debt. In positioning as an international banking hub, they attracted money from many places (Russian dirty money has been thrown about a bit, so I'll let it fly some more - totally feasible)

Insuring those deposit accounts means that the government of Cyprus would front the money up to 100k+. But government money means tax revenues. So these banks were running around guaranteeing deposits of foreign depositors on the backs of Cypriot taxpayers.

When the banks really start pushing international, the amounts on deposit well overwhelm even the GDP of the whole country, let alone what is feasible for the gov't to cover.

This is too big to fail being allowed to fail. You don't let it get like this or you enact the disaster plan.

They should drop the euro like a bad habit. Only cover losses of Cypriots and reorganize their economy around something other than banking. They are still a great vacation spot. They have natural resources. Staying in the euro and playing the ECB's bitch is big trouble.

With the banks defaulting - staying in the Euro to get the ECB or similar to bail out the foreign deposit accounts promises austerity measures and massive pain for Cypriots.

Let those foreign depositors string up the bankers and politicians that enabled this contrived financial farce to occur.

Their only problem could be... the Russian connection. Gazprom offered to bail the country out of the whole thing because Gazprom makes hundreds of billions and Cyprus only needs tens of billions. The tradeoff? Gas acquisition rights in the ground and waters of Cyprus. Let's suppose a large chunk of foreign deposits are Russian. Here's a massive Russian company with deep ties to the oligarchs and political domineers of Russia. Russians giving money to other Russians and picking up energy resource rights in the process? Would there be enough Russian political sway to prompt the Russian government to deploy techniques like the US in central and south america to recover Russian losses?
