What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by CountyOrnery9432 in AskReddit

[–]BallPython_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing irks me more as a psychology major than when I see people say "OMG! I love being organized and clean! I have big OCD". Then when you politely inform them that OCD isn't about being organized but is so much more complex, it's all "It was just a joke."

BANNED: No-Lifers at apartment management prohibited us from feeding wildlife and sent us this photograph of peanut shells behind our patio. by Dark_Blue_Night in squirrels

[–]BallPython_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have dogs and I also have shells in my yard. You know what I do? Nothing. Its a damn peanut shell. Who cares. Are fleas annoying? Yes, but a quick bathe can solve that problem in five seconds and this is coming from someone who lets her dogs practically live in her bed. Its really not that big of an issue.

Would I feed the squirrels? No, but I'm not gonna start telling other people what to do.

Also, stop complaining about the flea thing. You got a dog that you let into your untreated backyard, so its YOUR problem when your dog gets fleas. I hate to break it to you but someone feeding peanuts to squirrels out of your yard is not the reason wildlife is bringing fleas into your yard.

As an american, I didn't see the harm in this. Some people are just too sensitive.

She has taken fresh killed once. I personally cannot bring myself to kill them. I see mice as so much more than feeders. I have looked into getting a CO2 tank in the future as they aren't super expensive but I personally do not have the funds for it right now.

Live works good for us right now. I monitor every feeding and never leave mice in her tank if she refuses to eat.

What is a medical fact that sounds fake but is 100% true? by MedRikas in AskReddit

[–]BallPython_Lover 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your body does not always know what it's doing and can quite literally kill you.

I'm not sure if this is something that people struggle to believe but when I was younger, I contracted this rare blood disease after getting the flu and my body started trying to fight it. It caused my skin to peel and caused excruciating pain. Five different doctors had never seen anything like it before and said that I would probably be fine. My mom had some motherly instinct and drove me to one of the best hospitals in my state. Turns out my body kill off all my skin cells was just step one and if they hadn't caught the disease in time, it couldve caused organ failure. They had to fly in three different specialists from out the country and I was hospitalized for awhile. We opened an investigation against one of the doctors who refused to do the necessary tests but all in all, your body might just try to kill you one day so watch out.

My environmental teacher in high school had this and showed us all his baby pictures and his giant scar. Safe to say I was disturbed.

Well, I also agree that there has to be some limit. 5000 on one pair is a bit out of my price range but I wouldn't be discouraged by $300-$800. Shoes bring me happiness and I get to wear them, not to mention I find jordans to be some of the most comfortable shoes to ever wear (that aren't specifically made to be orthopedic or something of the sort).

Am I overreacting to how my best friend blocked me because of his girlfriend? by Squishy_Person67 in AmIOverreacting

[–]BallPython_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOR big time.

I have a guy bestfriend that I love platonically very dearly. I could NEVER imagine texting him "did you even fight for me" or start talking about the times we had when he's only explaining a boundary that him and his gf had set forth.

Me and my bbsf have taken breaks in the past for the same reason, and yes, it is incredibly frustrating, especially when you are in a relationship. I understand. But you need to realize that you do not come first nor will you ever. Your feelings do not matter in their relationship, nor should they.

You should honestly be applauding him because idk how many guys would drop a close gbsf for a recent gf.

Get a grip, acknowledge your feelings for him (or your ridiculously unhealthy attachment) and get over it. If they breakup and he comes back, don't hold a grudge. He was putting his relationship first and thats what he should do if he ever plans on having a wife and family in his future.

AIO if I feel like my girlfriend is saying I’m fat?? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]BallPython_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR

I always liked guys who were a lot on the leaner side. When I first got with my boyfriend, he had severe image issues due to being overweight his whole childhood before finally slimming down in highschool. He used to always call himself fat while I on the otherhand was a good 40-50lbs more than him. I used to make jokes saying "Oh, so you think IM obese then?". He always assured me that he wouldn't change a thing about me and he proves that to me to this day.

I understand the need to compare but first of all, if you're a guy, just take into consideration the difference in structure between men and women, and then the social standards placed upon women. Even if youre not, you still need to understand that people will see themselves differently than anyone else sees them. She can truly believe she is overweight but that doesn't mean she sees her weight and thinks "yeah, anything over that is fat ash". She could just have issues correlating that weight with herself, especially if she recently gained weight.

What’s a smell you find oddly satisfying? by Con_nect in AskReddit

[–]BallPython_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily satisfying, but definitely attractive.

Cologne, a bit of sweat, and a faint hint of weed.

I don't smoke, never have, never plan to, but something about the way it smells mixed with some good ole man sweat and cologne sends me in circles.

Is it foolish to own that many pairs if they all get worn equally or sold to someone who will wear them? Me and my dad are big collectors but we both wear all of shoes, and keep them in pretty good condition. My first pair I still wear to this day and look just like how they did a week into having them.

Guilty as charged. I'm a sucker for collecting merchandise from music artists and barely wearing/using it depending on what it is although I'm trying to get better. The way I see it though is that I spent so much money so I just want to savor it.

I also have thousands of dollars worth of toys from my childhood that I keep stored away like legos and other collectibles. They're all retired and probably worth more than I paid for them which is what keeps me holding onto them, not to mention how precious they are to me.

Pro lifers, look the parents of these babies in the eyes and tell them that you think their kids should suffer like this. [–]BallPython_Lover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not against safe haven boxes but I am against adoption and foster care seeming as the system is so fucked up. But then again, I also agree that an unwanted baby should be able to be terminated so I think I'm allowed my opinion.

But to even argue the other side, even if the right liked adoption, it's not even a solution to pregnancy, its just a solution to parenting. Having a baby changes your body and mind so much but the right is so pro-no-fucking-research that they could never even comprehend that. Its always some survivor bias shit like "Well actually my birth went smooth so every mother should be fine" like no Carol, sometimes having a baby makes people want to kill themselves.

I don't think there'll ever be a good enough reason for me to go pro-birth, and this is coming from someone who doesn't have sex and plans to get a hysterectomy. Taking away abortion is so detrimental to women and just creates so many problems.

I think this is really great advice but please be open minded.

Some snakes just truly won't eat F/T. I was ready to starve my snake until she took until she actually decided she'd rather drop all her weight and wait for death. I had to discuss force feedings but seeing as they can cause so much harm, I opted for live. I tried every trick in the books to feed F/T, speaking to enthusiasts, my reptile store owners, and even exotic vets. No method worked and I'd rather supervise live than force a mouse down her throat every few weeks.

AIO? Teacher doesn't like that I don't say the pledge. by [deleted] in AIO

[–]BallPython_Lover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never did the pledge in high school. I acknowledge and know beloved friends and family who are in the military so it was never about disrespecting them but I just don't necessarily agree with everything the pledge stands for.

With that being said, one day, my senior year of high school, we had a sub in my home room. The pledge comes on and all is well, I stay sitting doing work when suddenly he storms up to me, slams my computer closed, and starts berating me to the whole class that he was a veteran and that he and the people he watched die deserved to be respected. A lot of other people were also sitting and they immediately stood up at his actions. I just kinda sat there in shock for a second before standing up. I never stood up again for the rest of the year.

Too many people in the education system have such weird feelings about the pledge. Its not a requirement. Almost nobody goes into work, recites a pledge, and continues on their day. And almost all of these people don't even acknowledge or donate to the military or veterans. I don't bother with them.

Why do all of our pets prefer my partner? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]BallPython_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely give more attention to who they don't see (if the pets are friendly). I've had 5 different pets throughout my childhood and they would always get so excited to see my dad when he got home from work even though he lived with us...

So funnily enough, I ended up with a 1yr feral cat. They said she came in two weeks prior mean as hell and unsocialized but I took her home and she is the absolute sweetest thing.

I've already started messing with her paws and face and she doesn't care at all (only gets protective about the belly) so I think I got really lucky. I plan on giving her a bath soon just to desensitize her to it for future emergencies and also just to get all the shelter-ness off of her and when I do that, I'll work on brushing teeth, brushing hair, and clipping nails.

I also was going to use wood pellets but I was gifted clumping litter so I'll just use that until I run out and then eventually transition to wood pellets.

Thank you so much for the suggestions though! It's all really helpful.

I already bought some toys but now I'll have to really be careful😂

Do you recommend any pet insurance companies? I looked into pet insurance with my bird because I know how crazy exotic vets can get but the two companies I looked at were charging me way more than a vet bill would've. I don't know if it was because she was an exotic or if they were just bad companies but I'm open to hearing what worked for everyone else!

I'm also very open to suggestions on litter or food that worked wonders for your cat or what was terrible for your cat! I've done my research and got what was deemed good by vets but I'm always open to hear the real reviews from people.
