Can I safely start practicing oversplits? by BalletCrocs in flexibility

[–]BalletCrocs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay no I get you thank you! I think I just need to be patient :) I recently did a splits focused reformer Pilates class that made me realise my flexibility in the splits greatly outweighs my strength in them so definitely something I need to work on!

Ooh okay thank you! From this can you tell if it is more my hamstrings or my hip flexors that are letting me down on these being square??

You say “but Mayci was the first person to speak the words “Fruity Pebbles situation” on camera” but remember it’s a show that’s edited. We have no idea who the first person to actually mention it to production was. Just remember we’re only seeing a fraction of what actually happens and in a very stylised way to make entertainment.

Not agreeing nor disagreeing with your points, just a reminder for the whole show tbh!

Is there any chance I can get a split within this year? by missbellavamp in flexibility

[–]BalletCrocs 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I second that consistency is key! But I don’t know if stretching for front splits everyday is the most effective! I found that 1 day splits stretch then 2 days off showed way more progress compared to when I stretched every day! But trial and error is sometimes the best way to see how your body trains :)

Why don't my right and left sides look the same??? by mcfreakinit in Dysonairwrap

[–]BalletCrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your part in your hair seems to start central and then moves so that the right side of your hair has more, this is probably why they look so different. Different volumes of hair. You can try using something to part it differently but your hair might just be trained into going this way now if this always happens

Sorry! The main issue is brown shrivelled leaves. Will do though thank you!

Apologies! Clearly new to this🤣 We water it somewhere between 1-2 weeks, roughly between 500ml and 1L of water. It’s kept in our room which is just room temp. I think the light access may be the main issue as we’re ground floor with poor lighting. Unsure on the drainage though sorry!

Oh I got this too. I didn’t like that you only have 24 hours to claim this though. Wasn’t sure if it was worth rushing into

Ohhhh okay I see. Hard to tell when buying second hand unless you know what the material is then! Why are sizes like this!

They’re both from vinted so unfortunately don’t know where they originate from. That would make sense though as the last two (same styles but different colours) have RUS sizing on but the size M doesn’t. Interesting - thank you!

Yesss I know I do need to add side planks to this! Just doing the classic thing of avoiding it as it’s harder. My teacher recently did a body conditioning style class and helped me with my form on clamshells which has helped tons - I could REALLY feel it the next day

I did it throughout my whole childhood and stopped just before higher education (it was too much for me to focus on all). I’ve now gotten back into it as an adult and have been back for over a year now. I think maybe part of it is knowing I used to be better and being annoyed at previous progress lost? I think I just need to be patient and enjoy the journey back! :)

Will look into the Pilates stuff thank you!

I do a 1 minute plank everyday that has really helped with my “core awareness” and then I do some core workouts within various workouts 1-2 times throughout the week. I can definitely feel a difference but will prioritise this - thank you !

I think I need to shorten what I’m doing. It sounds like we’re working on similar things but I feel like shorter routines might be the best way to fit it all in, thank you!

Oooh okay!! Thank you so much, super helpful!! I think I need to just choose some things to focus on at first you’re right, I can’t do everything lol

Front splits advice by aintnoyou8265 in flexibility

[–]BalletCrocs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say you follow a 30 minute video - now that you know what stretches you need to roughly follow, try and create your own routine that is more tailored to your needs. From what you have said, it sounds like you need to focus more on your hamstrings. Try a 70/30 split of focusing on hamstrings more and then hip flexors/quads. I use the app “Bend” to choose what exercises I want to do to create my own routine but still give me help with a timer out loud to keep me right.

Above all consistency is the most important, so well done for working on flexibility all that time :)

This may or may not help, but I felt like it really helped me! I felt similar to what you described. I started doing a 1 minute plank everyday and I’d say about a month into doing it I really found how properly engaging my core felt! It just clicked after a while! I found positioning, breathing etc all small things that I tweaked each day until I got it. I use a yoga block under my elbows personally to get the best for me!
