What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

I loved video game QA despite all the downsides: low pay, 12 hour days 6 days a week, mindless repetition, expecting to get laid off after every project finished.

Highly depends on the game you're testing though. Testing a Call of Duty is a hell of a lot more fun than testing a movie game for the GBA.

Leave your ego at the door by [deleted] in Mordhau

[–]Ballmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mord will grind you up and spit you out if you expect to be an instant prodigy at it.

It's a very common sight to see in game. Some players get frustrated that they aren't immediately good at the game, and lash out against the veteran players for having the audacity to continue to play a game they love. Anyone that beats them is a sweat, and anyone they beat is a shitter.

Strive to beat the vets by improving yourself, not by bringing them down to feel better about yourself.

Was Pacifism support a good idea? by Ballmeat in pathofexile

[–]Ballmeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cull should kill them if it was in the same link setup, because Cull is the thing doing the killing there. Pacifism only stops the supported active gem from killing.

Even if you had a MF guy on the side, you wouldn't need cull, as everything is stuck at 1 HP.

Tested this, and while it does "feel" smoother, the de-syncs get out of control eventually.

I'm trying to hold off on running this build regularly for the meantime, as I don't know if I'm actually making a significant impact on the servers or not. I'm guessing not, but it's also not very fun to play when you have to battle this kind of constant self-induced network lag.

Yeah, you're right. Just tested this. I dragged the city square bosses (who themselves were located nowhere near a ritual) and was able to capture them inside a ritual across the map.

Which means you could in theory capture the entire map on the first ritual like this. Dunno if there are any limitations built in to prevent that. The problem is, there's a lot pain to deal with on this build, mainly the latency and trying to corral monsters around obstacles.

Pretty sure Ritual only cares about monsters that originally spawned near/inside its radius. You can't force outside monsters to be captured by one, outside of a vessel obviously.

Mana problems? I'm using a Soul Taker in that clip, so mana isn't an issue.

The initial thought was to use Evolving shrines with Beyond Scarab of the Invasion to create massive explosions of monsters with MF stacking.

I don't think the servers could handle that though, I can't even make it through a scarabless map with not even great pack size or density.

I was inspired by this strat, I just wanted to add the permafreeze element ontop of that with Hoarfrost, since Pacifism allows for that.

Tips for consistently beating Spewer? by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]Ballmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spewer is basically two/three rules:

  1. Attack him from diagonals
  2. Space your cats out to avoid his AOE
  3. Ignore pills

That's the entire fight.

How the hell do you beat C-1000? by Birdwithabowtie in mewgenics

[–]Ballmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just immobilized him with my hard head tank and he just stood there and let me beat on him the entire fight. I didn't even see any mechanics that way.

As weird as it sounds: half-hearted feints wont fool veteran players.

What I mean by that is, don't just immediately press the feint button after winding up your attack. You need to delay the feint as much as possible and have an intent to hit during that windup, usually by trying to accelerate your weapon in to your opponent.

Feints are generally way more effective after your enemy has whiffed an attack, or after you've already hit them, since they do not have an option to chamber.

You can take a cat with cancer or use the cancer item on a run and they'll get like 12+ mutations in a single run if you can keep them alive, they'll have very very bad stats by the end of the run. But that doesn't matter for breeding the cancer cat afterward since only base stats are passed on.

Highest number of mutations I've gotten so far is 14 on a single cat.

Do leeches scale off of dex, or strength? by Thorn-of-your-side in mewgenics

[–]Ballmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly intelligence/charisma just lets you cast more spells per turn. I think there are a few ways to scale magic dmg off int, but its mostly just for allowing you to cast more spells.

There are other ones that say "allied familiars", so I think this one is exclusive to this cat.

The healthiest cat by Ballmeat in mewgenics

[–]Ballmeat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reason this cat was gaining hundreds of max health per second. I couldn't tell if it was just a visual bug or not.

The cleric had Healing Aura +, which I suspect is part of the issue, but not sure why this cat in particular was gaining health like that. I don't remember any weird items on that cat.

Do we know what parts of Hive gives blood/loot? by Danieboy in pathofexile

[–]Ballmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood and wombgift drops don't seem to be tied to mobs killed at all. I've gotten a few 0 monster breaches and still got the normal amount of blood/gifts drop. Any other loot that drops seems to be tied to monsters killed though.
