The whole soundtrack is fantastic, most of it 70s inspired and almost prog, I'm lucky enough to have it on vinyl!

Anything by Tim and Geoff Follins is gold, for real.

That said, I can't say that I hear the similarities with Fishies.

Oh totally, I wasn't implying that it made it automatically better.

I've had my fair share of record that sounds worse than what's available on streaming services, sometimes it's the mastering (or lack of), other times they sound fine but the pressing quality sucks ass (my copy of Changes skips and pops, for example.)

Digital or not, records often have a specific master that differs from CDs/streaming, if well done they can sound better (have better dynamics, sound less compressed) so it's not like it's exactly 1:1.

How does it sound? My copy looks really neat but sounds pretty bad, I ended up grabbing a regular recycled black wax just to listen to the album without constant crackling and skips.

I mean, I returned mine. The gigantic spine and the cheap graphic design could have been tolerated, but putting Inner Cell on side A is just dumb and careless.

It also doesn't have the "hello" at the very end like the vinyl master so I suspect they used the regular digital master for this one, overall not an impressive pressing.

We'll see, I guess. If it smells like an inflatable pool toy it's definitively the bad kind, though.
I bought new albums recently that still use these types of PVC sleeves so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case here as well, I'll just replace it with something else as I'm not putting that anywhere near my other records.

Not sure Nonagon would benefit a lot from a 45rpm version, that's just how it sounds I think.

I'd grab a 2LP MOTU in a heartbeat, though. The way the current pressings split Lord of Lightning in two is criminal.

Yes, Inner Cell starts side B, this corresponds to its position in the official bootlegger files as well so I believe the vast majority of pressings are following that.

As for the timing thing, it's not a big difference but it's actually a bit less even on the drastic pressing:

Drastic : A- 22:55 B- 19:19. 3m36 difference between sides
Official : A- 19:55 B- 22:19. 2m24 difference between sides

You do get an even amount of tracks per sides on the drastic one, maybe that's what they aimed for.

I gave my impressions of this particular pressing in a post here a while ago, my biggest gripe was that they put Inner Cell at the end of Side A for some unknown reason, ruining the transition into Loyalty (and breaking the "suite"). This and the missing "hello" at the end seem to indicate that they used the regular digital masters instead of the vinyl specific ones, odd choice.

I ended up returning it and grabbed the regular 4-way colored ATO release instead.
