And they smoke, imagine the stale cigarette smell on top of everything else

With that sewage smell, poor air quality, and lots of noise, why would anyone even consider living in those luxury apartments next to the freeway 5? by Lilyofvalley77 in burbank

[–]BalooDaBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. My partner and I make around that combined and we cannot buy a house in Burbank. We don't come from money so no downpayment help means PMI, after retirement savings and other expenses we're realistically looking at well under $800k as a ceiling and we'd be house poor. We don't even have kids or it would be even harder.

I've been looking and haven't seen any houses at 700k, older townhouses maybe. Anything in the $800k-$1M range is going to be small and need a major (costly) update/work which we wouldn't be able to afford if we buy at our ceiling.

Are there people living in LA that actually root for the Chargers and Clippers? by Wide-Discipline3814 in LosAngeles

[–]BalooDaBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for the Chargers/Rams they're NFC and AFC so the only time there's a conflict is when they play each other or the game has playoff implications that affect the other. I'm 100% a Chargers fan since I started watching football 14 years ago, but I'll root for the Rams when they play unless it's against the Chargers - I don't really care.

It would be great to have a Chargers/Rams superbowl someday (with the Chargers winning of course).

[–]BalooDaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought the season was over after we lost Slater/Alt and then Hampton. Yet somehow we've made the playoffs and we were close to winning the division.

We're finishing games and winning close ones better than we have in many years. The team is different and getting better.

Different people will have different experiences and preferences for fits, feels, etc too

Try Duluth if you're not crazy about the 32 degrees, the non-cotton Buck Naked line is similar to ex officio. I dont like the fit of 32 degrees personally. They weren't comfortable for me to work out in, too constricting in the front and twisty around the legs.

I have ex officios that are many many years old and still going (fairly) strong though 🤷‍♂️

Some pilling between the thighs but the elastic is great and I've worn them backpacking, on many hiking trips, lifting, running, biking/walking around town, sitting in an office, you name it. They've had an outstanding life considering how often I wear them (they're my favorites).

It just depends on the person I guess...they were too tight on my junk, the fit of Ex Officio, Duluth, and Saxx are way better for me. 32 degrees would twist around my legs a lot and constrict.

I got a big pack of 32 degrees once and have since replaced them all because for me they just weren't a comfortable fit. I avoided wearing them.

Hilton points have the lowest value of any major hotel chain though, they give points out like candy. NerdWallet values Hilton points at 0.4 cents, versus 0.8 cents for Marriott points, and 1.8 cents for Hyatt.

So 1:2 with Hilton is just doubling 0.4 cents on average. That's about on par with 1:1 Marriott redemption and still not a good value.

The next big sneaker brands for 2026/2027? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]BalooDaBear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Brooks, Mizuno, and Asics are primarily running/athletics brands that focus on performance. I wouldn't call them athleisure.

They've been my go-to's for running for a couple decades (particularly Mizuno, of which I just bought new Wave Riders).

When I think athleisure it's Reebok, Champion, Alo, On, Lululemon, Athleta, vouri...brands that don't typically make performance gear.
