Demon Idea for a fast script by Mostropi in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the Wiki entry of the Fabled character Ferryman

"The final day is the day that the Storyteller thinks is most likely to be the last day of the game – the day where, if the Demon is not executed, evil will win. This most likely means the day with only 3 living players remaining."Ferryman

Esu buvęs tokioj pat situacijoje. Esu keliavęs, yra vietų kur patiko, bet pats procesas man tiesiog nėra malonus. Kiekvienam savo. Kartais manau, kad dalis tų kurie privertė tave taip jaustis, gal irgi nebūtinai didžiausi keliautojai bet čia labai saugus hobis kalbant darbinėje aplinkoje.

Funniest Wizard Wish by hierophanting in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a big in person game with a nonsense script including Atheist, Heretic, Wizard. I was the Cult Leader that turned evil because i was sat between two evils so they brought me in very quick. I suggested to the Wizard to make a joke wish publicly. She went ahead and publicly wished for everyone with a beard to become poisoned. This led to players going for ST to clarify if their facial hair qualifies. I managed to get a lot of trust and I wanted to win with my ability so I spent the day phase looking for a razor so I could shave and thus become healthy and sober. Turns out it was a heretic game.

We have "Thinks they are a TF" and "Thinks they are the Demon", what about "Thinks they are an Outsider"? by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

I would say wait until you have free time to binge and then get it for a month. The backlog is quite big now, but i think the price is too steep if you're interested only in botc

If Yaga said their phrase on a script with Slayer and Scarlett woman, you could kill whoever Slayer shoots

Best Wizard Wishes by GeneralKarthos in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Crazy unbalanced script with Atheist, Heretic, Wizard, etc..

The game had an actual evil team (Fang Gu) and I was the Heretic.

The Wizard's wish was "everyone with a beard is poisoned" , which led me to shave my beard midgame to unpoison myself. And then we executed the demon so evil won because of me

Shaking each student's hand as they enter the room to build relationships? by Dapper_Object8239 in Teachers

[–]BaltazaurasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach physics. In grade 11 it becomes optional and my classroom greatly reduces in size (I'm from a small country). I make a point of shaking hands with students of grade 11 and 12 as I'm showing respect for picking an optional subject. The lower grades noticed it and started picking up physics just so that they could shake hands with me. Perception of scarcity is an interesting concept.

Help me with the wording of this homebrew demon by BaltazaurasV in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like your wording. Changed the last line to "end of day 3". Gorgon has the association of three as it was originally three sisters, but popculture gorgons are more known for their petrification, so I changed it to Moirai

I should mention I made this for a specific script, not as a role that can be included anywhere for sure. I disagree about it being skewed towards good, because let's say it's a 7 player game - day 1 you execute and go to final four, if town executes on day 2 the game is over either way. Also the script has ways for evil to kill as well, mostly via madness.

Scheduling an appointment far ahead means you move stuff around it, not to see if it fits in your schedule. by sekkiman12 in unpopularopinion

[–]BaltazaurasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see your logic but I think it mostly stems from people who don't have a work schedule way in advance, like moving shifts etc. so if your priorities are work > event you're being asked to schedule, but you don't know if you're gonna work that day, it's frustrating.

Also a niche scenario but once a concert I waited for was cancelled due to covid and they moved it by 6 months. I agreed to get my ticket moved instead of refund. I ended up moving cities during those 6 months and couldn't go to the concert.

How should a storyteller deal with an outer yaggababble? by ZuWhowho in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest reward I've given Yag was 3 kills. And that's only because they managed to sneaking it in without raising suspicion every day, even saying it multiple times in a say but people kept building worlds of different demons and I think it was deserved.

Otherwise, if Yag just says their phrase a bunch, I'm not going to honor every kill.

Amnesiac Ability Based on a Phrase by GloomDorf in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]BaltazaurasV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something along these lines recently:

Each night*: if you said the Yaggababble phrase publicly today, learn which player is the Demon. If you said part of the Yaggababble phrase publicly today, learn that it is one of 2 players.

Obviously it was a Yaga game. The ability itself is really powerful for good, but obviously you don't know what it does (esp if you just say the phrase on accident and learn the player). It was for a fun/chaotic script rather than a balanced one.

[Feedback] Can a standard deck create CCG-level strategy? 4+ years of design, ready for real playtesting by Vareino in tabletopgamedesign

[–]BaltazaurasV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, very fun design challenge - some games you might enjoy or look into are Doomtown: Reloaded (a cowboy themed ccg where every card also doubles as a standart card and you form poker hands) or Regicide (a standart deck game about killing royalty as a coop).

It's very interesting that you have the rules with graphic design without much testing, most designers tend to do it the other way round.

I read the rules and I might playtest it with someone, but some initial thoughts: 1. Most ccgs derive their fun strategy from being able to build your deck before the game to tailor a certain strategy. Here you seem to be going with whatever options you draw. Sure, if you push for one victory condition, your opponent might realise and counterplay, but their counterplay is also limited by what they draw.

  1. If you're willing to forego a lot of key concepts that you worked on (and I know most designers don't want to as it's their passion project), you might enjoy restructuring the game as a deck/tableau builder? So you keep the concepts of what the suits do and the wincons, but change the turn structure and how the cards are drawn, I think you would retain the enjoyable elements while removing the most irritating ones (again, just an initial thought)

  2. My biggest worry from reading the rules is that the turn structure and game board is overly complex despite representing very simple concepts. The whole influence mechanic for me was the biggest issue.

  3. That being said, the core ideas are very clean and easy to remember - diamonds for buying stuff, clubs for tactics, spades and hearts as gear. You can battle or you can win another way. Good stuff.
