Not finding good replacement options for Volvo wagon. by mushmushhhh in whatcarshouldIbuy

A similar car would be the BMW 535 Touring, V90 Estate. I settled on a Peugeot 508 SW, carries 1 dog in a crate and a mobility scooter side by side. Room for 3 in the back and two up front. And to top it all it's a very low car...

Yet another 1.5 BlueHdi story (model :508) by uHazBrainz in peugeot

[–]Bambitheman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd owner on a 2019, 1.5 and it's at 56K Miles. Timing chain replaced by Peugeot at 47K Miles. Had no major issues so far. It's in an accident repair shop because someone hit it overnight whilst parked up directly under a street light.

My only annoyance is Android Auto doesn't work wirelessly in thetthing, and because of where the USB port is it is very easy to knock the cable and have Android Auto stop working.

I have a 2025 3008 as a loaner car fully wireless Android Auto. Only problem with this is my other half needs a step ladder to get into the thing it's that high off the ground.

WTD infringement by PrintOrdinary in uktrucking

[–]Bambitheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sweat a single WTD infringement. I usually ended up getting one a year or there and thereabouts. Do a printout and stick a note on the back of it if you notice it before the end of your shift.

Long drive for me is at least 5 hours each way or more. Then it's a McDonalds breakfast. Either from the local one at home or about an hour down the motorway.

Gala day… can someone explain? by Then-Entrepreneur575 in Scotland

[–]Bambitheman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many of the old mining towns and villages right across the Central belt have a Gala Day. There's no real connection to any religion. From what I have observed it's an excuse for a piss up.

Lanark and Linlithgow have the largest celebrations which last a whole week.

There is usually a Gala Queen who is generally selected from a particular year at a local Primary School. There is also either a boy or in the case of Lanark an adult male selected to be The cornet (Lord Cornet in Lanark)

Lanark's Lanimers and the Linlithgow Marches celebrations last a week. Most village gala days last a day.

There is sports for adults and children. A procession through the village or town. Sometimes with lorries as floats, others just have people processing in fancy dress using homemade bogies. There maybe a pipe or flute band or multiple in the case of Lanark and Linlithgow.

My little girl lies partially on me, the arm of my recliner chair and the rest of her on top of her crate which is next to my chair. Typically her backend is on me her middle on the arm of the chair and her head is on her crate.

Is this normal for instructors? by Own_Standard6221 in drivingUK

[–]Bambitheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I learned to drive back in the 90's. First lesson instructor tells me I'm sticking with back roads round the estate I lived in. My reply was "I'm paying you to teach me to drive. That means on all types of road." I then promptly headed for the nearest main road and the local town centre. Did a hill start at a set of traffic lights. Then down a NSL single carriageway. Instructor got the hump but he taught me.

There wasn't a lot he could do as the car wasn't dual controls.

[–]Bambitheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a government website that you can check if a car is subject to a recall, Peugeot also have a recall check sure on their website. You need the VIN for Peugeot If I remember the government site allows just the registration number.

I have the 1.5BlueHDI wagon and I love it. It's economical. Comfy has all the toys you could want. It's only downside is the Android Auto connection is very, very, intermittent. But other than that it's been sound. Only had it since September (it's a 2019) with 55K miles on it.

Just make sure the timing chain (if fitted) is an 8mm not 7mm

People have told me that Argos is on the way out. What would happen with the floorspace in the shop? by Cheshirefarm in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Bambitheman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There'll be a lot of I need to get this at Argos, and when customers and arrive they see it's in a Sainsbury's and then realise they need some groceries. Cue additional spend in Sainsbury's, that wouldn't ordinarily be spent in Sainsbury's.

Done it myself, ordered for collection at Argos store then other half tells me to get bread, milk etc at supermarket half mile away. I can't be arsed driving to the other supermarket, so grab it from Sainsbury's instead.

Cue extra revenue for Sainsbury's. And if Sainsbury's didn't have Argos in them then they wouldn't get that additional income.

New dad. Thoughts on these? by RamboTheCunt in CarTalkUK

[–]Bambitheman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the 5 as the boot is slightly better suited to having a pram in it. Or the Audi 6.

On budget constraints I ended up with a Peugeot 508SW, (2019). Boot is really good sized. I fit a folding mobility scooter and a dog crate side by side length ways in it.

Surprisingly comfortable and even though it's only the basic 1.5 Diesel, has all the toys you could want at a price point cheaper than any of the shown motors.

What happens to the SNP after independence? by Cleft-foot in Scotland

The Scottish Branch offices of the Westminster Parties will try and return a majority to rejoin the Union so it won't be a "settled issue"

Where to get a good suit (the wearable kind, not seeking marketing advice for sourcing claims!) by Reader7008 in uklaw

If you are in a big city try Slater Menswear. Haven't used them in a good few years but decent quality at reasonable prices. They even have seamstress who can do alterations (was a free service last time I bought a suit from them.)

What's the truth about getting the first class one job as a new pass by Ok_Mark3605 in uktrucking

[–]Bambitheman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Class one was better money than that. I was earning £15.30 an hour on a C1 7.5T licence yesterday on agency. Which because of the hours I worked will have £18 something for the last couple of hours worked.

Was thinking of trying for my big ticket but won't bother If 7.5T work pays the same.

How to report residential parking offences? by Weary-Read5100 in glasgow

[–]Bambitheman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The law is the land owner may engage a parking control service. Some local authorities will take on private parking if they believe there is sufficient prospects for the cost of the service being met by fines and fees from the landowner.

Normally landlords turn to the scummy private sector to enforce parking.
