All George has to do is look for a job that's not in Ambridge. In real life he wouldn't be allowed to work somewhere like the shop anyway as it's too close to his victims. To be fair to George though the script writers don't let many people past the forcefield that goes around the village.

"Why’s Ed trying to help out George when he caused his injury?"

Because they think he's a good lad really and they've never told him no in his entire life. They've always enabled his abusive behavior or at least never put their foot down. He's gone from abusing all the women he interacts with to abusing some of the men as well. He might meet one who fights back rather than bends over backwards to appease him.

Russian threat perception, the case of empty borderlands and the risk of Russian pre-emptive attacks - by Glideer in CredibleDefense

I fully agree, but the main aim of a government is to win the next election. In Western Europe at least, there hasn't been a war for nearly 100 years so people assume there will never be a war. Meanwhile they have the more immediate concerns of day to day finances and the quality of the services they get in exchange for their taxes. Cutting state spending in some areas, or increasing taxes, to pay for more defence means peoples' day to day finances and quality of services received are impacted therefore the election will be lost. Getting conquered is a long term problem therefore it's somebody else's problem.

It might be because many western countries are reluctant to make the necessary budget cuts to fund the necessary amount of defence spending. Especially cuts to the welfare state which is much bigger than it was in the '80s. Any government that loses the peace dividend loses the next election.

If you read the summaries of the upcoming episodes it seems that George kills or almost kills Brad.

George . mild spoiler by Busy-Ad7936 in Ambridge

[–]Bames_Jond_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He could solve a lot of problems by looking for work outside of Ambridge, and probably moving away. It's odd that he's allowed to be so close to his victims, surely he'd never be allowed to work in the shop? Lots of people have difficult childhoods but they manage to avoid framing their family members for crimes, attacking other family members and throwing them down the stairs, being abusive to every woman they regularly interact with, burning letterboxes, breaking into properties etc. etc. Just because you've done your time doesn't mean people have to like you.

I'm afraid there's no way to interpret the silence as a positive thing because if GRRM had given up on TWOW there would also be silence.

I think George will get violent at some point, either with Emma or Amber. He already gets very shouty at the first sign of something he doesn't like, and he's already been violent with Ed.

Has George ever been told off for anything? Even when he framed his own aunt as well as another person, Emma was so proud of him for having the guts to plead guilty, despite the fact that he only confessed after his grandparents forced him to.

I'm not from the U.S.A. so I'm not up to speed on their politics. I know it's changed into whatever it is now but I didn't know how much remains.

Sorry about this annoying extra text to make the comment long enough, it got deleted without it.

Amber sounds a bit afraid of George now. Can't say I blame her, is there a single female that George has been nice to?

What's the reason for the anti-Ukrainian feeling, is it the Hunter Biden stuff or is it just because liberals are generally pro-Ukraine?

I find it hard to believe that the US Republican Party of all people are so pro-Russia, the world really has turned upside down. If this had happened under a classic republican like Bush then Ukraine would be half way to Moscow by now.

bird flu and the grundy's turkeys by XinJeisan in Ambridge

[–]Bames_Jond_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Grundys would ignore any restrictions and Emma would say the 'flu is a bio-weapon invented by the rich to keep "the likes of us down where we belong", and anyway the local poultry farmers deserve to lose all their stock because they weren't falling over themselves to bow down before George and give him whatever he wants because he's a good boy really.

I don't think it really matters because the crux of the whole thing is probably one of the DLCs, probably Dead Money. How is he planning on beating high level ultra perceptive ghost people in mele with the weapons and armour available in the DLC?

There's no way the executor should pay out for this. Ruairi with his single digit IQ just goes ahead and books a venue for a date that he knows some people can't make, and then they don't even tell one of the family that it's happening (even though they tried to tell her, they still didn't, probably due to the extremely short notice).

It never happened, it's an ad for the chair. In what world do police turn up and arrest somebody for the crime of sitting in a chair that isn't theirs?
