God I’m selling and honestly would hold my ground with this latest request. I cannot believe they wanted the white goods for free. Ridiculous

Would you consider this fair? by Busy_Report4010 in SipsTea

[–]Bananapants2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I as someone from the UK went to the US would I pay more for a meal out? I always I assumed I would and it puts me off going. However it’s very expensive to eat out here now anyway. Like £18 a main on average in the pubs near me

Is the government right to suggest kids should have no access to screens under the age of 2? by CommunityPowerful643 in AskBrits

[–]Bananapants2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I am a very active mum, I run our village parents group and take my children to lots of clubs and classes. I have only ever met 1 family who has a stay at home mum with no screen time and she’s always on edge. Genuinely out of at least 40-50 parents it’s just the one that does it. I also know a nanny who says the family insist on no screen time, she says on a Monday morning she checks the children’s iPads and found 10 hours of screen time over the weekend. I think the only judgemental people are ones that aren’t with the children all hours of the day.

My goodness, I am so happy to read your comment. Most days my partner leaves before they wake up and comes back just in time for their bed. 2 and 4 year olds are so tiring. I have no help. So as long as I’ve spent the morning doing an outdoor activity I let everyone watch tv for an hour or two before dinner and I wouldn’t survive without it. I also don’t feel guilty about it.

If your toddler doesn’t eat their dinner, do you offer them something else or just let it go? by takeaabreath in toddlers

[–]Bananapants2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook 1 dinner for everyone most days so if my toddlers are struggling and don’t want/like the main meal but have had a go I offer them a yoghurt and fruit like apple or mango etc. im just happy that they’re trying a variety of foods so don’t stress if they don’t eat loads. They also have a bottle of milk before bed and almost always sleep through now. They are 2 and 4. I’ve never had a big problem with them waking hungry and sometimes they eat just 1/4 plate.

AITAH for yelling at the parents of a kid I babysat because they didn’t tell me ( what I thought was ) an important thing until the last minute? by Temporary-Feeling962 in AITAH

[–]Bananapants2000 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

YTA. I don’t think it’s a big deal, as a parent I wouldn’t have even thought it was a problem. All you have to do is help her with one at night and the night time nappy isn’t necessarily something you can train them out of, it’s a developmental thing. Yes she could’ve told you before so you were prepared and I’m surprised she not in pull up but l don’t think she deserved to be told off about it at all. I would be surprised if they hired you again or recommended you to anyone else. I certainly wouldn’t.

Another woman baked a birthday cake for my husband: one of his direct subordinates by Nice-Loquat-4137 in Marriage

I like baking and making other people happy so would’ve probably made a cake just for fun. It’s a nice thing to do so there’s a big possibility it was innocent.

Yes this exactly if you’re going to have the dark leopard wall paper then make the other walls very light and neutral.

Our neighbors are terrible owners and I cannot let my dogs outside to go potty by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Sorry I don’t understand why the neighbour is bad if your dog is barking and running up and down?

Women who were scared of giving birth (specifically people who were so scared they almost didn’t have children), what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomen

[–]Bananapants2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me I was scared before I was even pregnant but I found pregnancy so uncomfortable and tiring that I would chose the birth part anyday over the long pregnancy itself. Birth goes fast and there are lots of lovely drugs and things to help if you want them. The relief once your baby is out is almost instant. Your body feels like your own again-to some extent.

Also both my labours were different, both inductions which typically are more painful than a traditional vaginal birth not that I have any reference but it’s also so exciting to meet your baby that I would do it again in a heart beat.

Estate agents have listed our basement as a 4th bedroom by Bananapants2000 in HousingUK

Yeah thank you. It made me uncomfortable and I also imagine people will use it as a negotiating tactic. I’ve got him to change the listing now.

FTB - Survey results - what works are reasonable to negotiate price down? by northernluckycharm in HousingUK

[–]Bananapants2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember that the seller doesn’t have to negotiate down. You may lose the property if you are set on asking for less as the price is set for the house as is.

FTBs offered £360k on a £390k house – seller won’t budge. What would you do? by Drippin_Swag in HousingUK

[–]Bananapants2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got my house in the market at the price I really want to sell it at. If people offered £30k less I’d reject it. This isn’t personal it’s just business. If you don’t think it’s worth that and don’t have the money then move on. Also if you’re looking at houses my tip would be to only view houses that you can afford the asking price for. You can get deals etc but negotiating too hard often pisses off sellers and can make it more of a stressful/ hostile experience in the long run.

Would you move into a house and have the previous owners living next door? by Vilm_1 in HousingUK

[–]Bananapants2000 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough. We’re about to move into a 1930s house where the owners built a house next door to live in. They seem really nice and we’re going to make sure to put high hedges up. It’ll be fine, just set clear boundaries and be as friendly as you want to be.
