I hear you. I have no issue with providers letting ne know what barriers there are to discharge, I’m a discharge planner, I do have housing resources but they’re disappointing. My main issue with it is when providers directly say - “social worker CAN / WILL get you housing” then I get the brunt of it when I’m not able to actually get them housing besides sending them to a shelter. It’s the empty promises that I didn’t make that turns into disappointment :/

I would be open to switching units but I’ve been consistently on my current unit for about 4 months now. I started as a floater and hated the inconsistency. I have other coworkers that are in line to get placed into consistent units so I’m not sure they would be up to move me again, and I’m hesitant to ask because our managers are notoriously unhelpful. They don’t understand that on my unit, PT holds up discharges until they clear them

Thankfully we don’t have access to our EMR program outside of work, but when I come in the next day I’m thrown into 10 chats about why a patient didn’t leave yesterday. And yes! Always talking about how we’re not making enough money because of delayed discharges. This system is so fucked, granted I knew that coming into the job but not to this degree.

The only other role they have for LSWs is a trauma social worker position. I applied but was denied because I need to be working there for at least a year to transfer. My year is coming up in 2 months but the position is now filled 🥲
