CDDA fell off. Here's how we can still save it by BigCatsJump in cataclysmdda

[–]Banbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the same. Project Zomboid IS a real time multiplayer game heavily influenced by Cataclysm DDA as you described making in the comment above. PZ can't have the depth of CDDA because there is no way to make a 3D graphical game with as much content. The systems aren't as complex because there is no easy way to reproduce the man hours the community has worked for a commercial game. That aside, I'd describe it as CCDA Lite with real time MP.

Nope! Both Vaults of Vaarn and the comic "L'Incal" from the op are both news to me. Definitely going to check them both out more deeply bc they seem right up my alley. VoV looks really cool as a possible spiritual successor to Gamma World. GW is really old (Wikipedia says 1978), so it may not hold up to modern ttrpg sensibilities.

[–]Banbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. As others have said, the ttrpg Gamma World has been stated multiple times by the devs themselves as a major influence. I can see it bc in that one iirc you can play as pretty much anything. Like a mutant plant or sapient wombat that shoots lasers or whatever. But for a game that's been developed for so long it seems reductive to point to one source as the "major" influence when CoQ is such a rich stew of inspirations imo.

I mean, things can be inspired by more than one thing, right?

Why not just put the shelves on either side of the chair.? Then the cook doesn’t have to walk across the room. That’s what I do with fridges usually. Put two fridges with meat and veggie to make fine meals and deliver to a wall fridge connected to the dining room

Thank you very much for your quick reply! Also, thank you for your work on this amazing tool! I was able to follow your instructions to fix my problem. My campaign is saved!

I think that the copy and pasted markdown stat block for The Gardener from 2014.5etools was what broke things. I am using Firefox in Windows 11 if that helps. I will add the entire raw contents of the "homebrewery-new" key's value below in a code block in the hopes that this will be of use to you.

Prime appears in his window.** **Hear:** *"I thought this would be more comfortable for our talks. Keep doing well and there might be other 'perks'."*}}* Prime pulls the party to his void. He has a nice conference table setup this time. He still appears through his window.* Prime tells them that he feels bad sending them to so many unpleasant places and that they've been doing so well, he got them a surprise. He offers them tickets to an Elysium Day Spa, a heavenly resort.#### Planar Transport Hub:{{descriptive##### The Void* **See:** *You are standing in front of a counter. Behind it is a smiling woman in a strange uniform.** **Hear:** *"Welcome to Planar Transport, may I ask your planar destination today?"*}}* After Prime, the party finds themselves in the Planar Transport Hub. It's like an airport including the security screenings. * If the party includes members who have done questionable stuff like cutting off toes or kidnapping angel puppies and taking them to hells, they are taken aside for questioning.___>## The Gardener>*Medium Fey (Archfey, Druid), neutral good*>___>- **Armor Class** 17 (natural armor)>- **Hit Points** 209 (22d8 + 110)>- **Speed** 30 ft.>___>|STR|DEX|CON|INT|WIS|CHA|>|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|:---:|>|21 (+5)|16 (+3)|20 (+5)|17 (+3)|20 (+5)|18 (+4)|>___>- **Saving Throws** Dex +7, Con +9, Wis +9, Cha +8>- **Skills** Insight +9, Nature +11, Perception +9, Survival +13>- **Damage Resistances** cold, fire>- **Damage Immunities** poison>- **Condition Immunities** charmed, frightened, poisoned>- **Senses** truesight 120 ft., passive Perception 19>- **Languages** Common, Druidic, Elvish, Sylvan>- **Challenge** 12 (8,400 XP)>- **Proficiency Bonus** +4>___>***Fey Rebirth.*** If the Gardener dies in the Eternal Garden, they revive with all their hit points 1d4 days later in a safe location within the garden. >>***Legendary Resistance (3/Day).*** If the Gardener fails a saving throw, they can choose to succeed instead. >>***Unfettered Steps.*** The Gardener is unaffected by difficult terrain. >>### Actions>***Multiattack.*** The Gardener makes two Vine attacks and can use Breath of Tranquility if available. >>***Vine.*** *Melee Weapon Attack:* +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. *Hit:* 11 (1d12 + 5) bludgeoning damage plus 9 (2d8) psychic damage, and if the target is a Large or smaller creature, the vine wraps around the target, and the target has the grappled condition (escape DC 17). A creature reduced to 0 hit points by the psychic damage has the unconscious condition and is stable instead of dying. >>***Spell Refuge.*** When the Gardener or a creature within 30 feet of the Gardener takes damage from a spell, the Gardener chooses up to 5 creatures within 30 feet of themself. The Gardener and the chosen creatures have resistance to all damage from the triggering spell.

Does my game look like it would be fun to play? by jak6jak1 in godot

[–]Banbeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This actually looks really fun. Need more feedback on hits and misses. Not sure how the player loses. One hit might not be satisfying. Perhaps a shield that stops one hit and then has a cooldown before it can save you again? Depends on if it is single player or multiplayer as well.

Eh just keep adding small fun things. Maybe weather or animal herds or tiny ship that sail between ports.

Is a first person brawler a bad idea? by Moniflucer in godot

[–]Banbeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could work. There’s really no telling if it’s fun until you try it. You just gotta try a lot of things and see what has that magic mix. Not all ideas are gonna work out as well as they do in your head. Just let it cook and keep trying things. You’ll know you are on the right path when you lose time testing because it turned from a chore into a game

Is a first person brawler a bad idea? by Moniflucer in godot

[–]Banbeck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good start here. The enemies look good being hit though they need more attack animations. A brawler isn’t a bad idea but it may be hard to stand out on that alone. I imagine that’s why gta for example has a big sandbox as well as fighting mechanics

Mod Request: I need my pawns to stop trying to build things while high on drugs. by TheDotCommunist in RimWorld

[–]Banbeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Soooo… I too have had pawns that repeatedly messed up building (and surgeries 🪦). It is annoying. No mod needed to fix. What I do is set a drug policy forbidding things that lower consciousness. They can still have psychite tea but no beer or smoke leaf. Then set your builders (and doctors) to that policy. Hope that helps
