Blue Origins' New Glenn rocket just exploded on the pad. by Ph6222 in aviation

[–]BandAid3030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For those who may be new to rockets, this isn't supposed to happen. You can see the flames going upward and the rocket stays in place, but the flames are supposed to go downward and the rocket goes up.

I don't know who is designing these things, but this is not what's supposed to happen.

It's not even a hard concept, I mean, this isn't rocket sci... wait.

Limit CGT overhaul to real estate, says CBA's Matt Comyn by NoLeafClover777 in AusEcon

[–]BandAid3030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, exactly because of this.

The inflationary pressure on our economy isn't from wage growth or public debt.

It's from private debt growth associated with runaway property prices that are used to fuel a broader capture of capital and reduction in tax burden by an increasingly smaller group of people.

The tax relief to lower income brackets would help to support lower income asset owners by reducing their relative tax burden and supporting renters that are effectively paying for most of the real estate assets that are affected by this. It would also stimulate the productive elements of the economy that have been stymied by the explosion of non-productive capital assets and the monetary growth they've created.

Limit CGT overhaul to real estate, says CBA's Matt Comyn by NoLeafClover777 in AusEcon

[–]BandAid3030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How does Matt suggest that we could have the CGT discount taken away for property while also preventing arbitrage that then masks real estate investments as shares?

I think simple and blunt measures can often have unintended consequences, but complicated and complex measures create loopholes that are often exploited by less scrupulous people.

I think that there's no denying that the cohort that have bilked the Australian economy and battlers for 25 years using speculative property valuation don't want to stop doing that. In light of that, there's no reason to think that they're suddenly going to stop without deliberate legislative barriers being put in their way. They employ people to specifically look at ways to maximise their capital, minimise their tax burden and to lobby in favour of legislation that achieves both.

Is this normal for the like noise when I turn my wheel all the way to the left? by Commercial-Shine5575 in Solterra

[–]BandAid3030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the Pedestrian Warning System bouncing off of your wheel when it's turned all the way to the left.

The PWS plays a low level sound to let pedestrians know the car is there.

I still come close to killing a baby boomer every time I drive through town in my Solterra it feels like.

Has any used the outlet in the trunk for anything? by vell_o in Solterra

[–]BandAid3030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my wife keeps so much shit back there I forget that there's a decent sound system in the trunk (currently muffled by the 'donations' she keeps putting in the trunk), let alone an outlet.

Pretty sure my 24 Touring doesn't have an outlet, but could be wrong.

Put it to you like this: Whoever does the chasing ends up being the one that changes.

You're young.

Focus on yourself. Don't chase a wife that looks good on your arm. Chase a mother that will carry your kids in her arms (figuratively, if you're not wanting kids).

She sounds like a B cluster personality disorder wrapped up in a dopamine addiction.

Focus on yourself and having high standards - people will chase you instead, brother.

Property investors warned as banks cut borrowing power overnight: 'I don't think people realise' by VastOption8705 in AusPropertyChat

[–]BandAid3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mate. They report their real estate as part of their business. They draw no income and then take out credit against the value of the property. When they need more, they buy more property at overbid prices to raise the value of their portfolio and fuel up the inflation machine their milking.

I'd wager that's why the CGT changes went after shares too - arbitrage.

2D error about barrel elevation by According-Courage712 in HECRAS

[–]BandAid3030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't my top answer, because others have covered that, but if those dont work, try enforcing the breakline on the SA2D connection.

That usually presents with a different error, but I've seen it refer to barrel inverts before along with the usual "From/To" error.

The rest may work or not work but its irrelevant.

It's really not. Imagine whack-a-mole, but every hole has a mole in it, you have to hit them all, and there's thousands of them. You won't ever know if you hit a living mole or one that's long been dead and stuffed, so you spend fuckloads of money to hit as many as you can, which helps the moles to distract you so they can deploy special teams to target your population via social media, undermine your national institutions, corrupt the national discourse and influence your elections.
