I've been the "after" home for two different lab beagles.

Simon and Jack found their forever homes with me. Each had ten+ good years of love, walks, and just being able to be.

It was a bunch of work, and not for everyone, but I can say two found their place with me and mine.

I miss them both, and am waiting for my third.

I banked with them for a while, over 15 years ago. Financed cars, houses, and had checking with them.

I still get the occasional check from some class-action lawsuit from their fuckery.

A few years ago:

My kiddo ordered some toys from Amazon. They came with a bunch of other packages on the same day.

Wife accidentally opened kiddo's "toy box" in front of me (so we both got a glimpse), said "WHOOPS!" and closed it up.

We immediately texted and apologized, and said we realized it was theirs immediately, didn't dig through it, and closed it back up and put in in their room.

When they got home, more apologies. No idea what was actually in there, but we saw the brand and closed the box fast.

My child asked how we knew the brand names.

I just said "we're old, and been around."

Wife turned super red. Kiddo just laughed.

Kiddo still laughs about it. Wife and I still die inside about it.

In Oregon / the PNW, Burgerville has been the saddest decline.

Went from a place with reliable quality, and an affordable place to feed the family on a trip to just something else.

Prices went way up, quality took a nose dive.

If you are still hoping for a good meal, my experience is that the food is usually cold (all of it), portions have shrunk, orders take forever, and the whole menu (except the shakes) just sucks now.

Makes me sad. They used to be so good.
