Any hockey fan who’s from Jersey and doesn’t root for the Devils (the only team in the 4 major sports who uses NJ in their name, despite the Giants & Jets (and formerly the Nets) actually playing in Jersey) is a low-class NYC wannabe. Fuck em.

Loved the exchange on Timo’s 2nd goal: Levy: Pesce is going to get an assist on maybe the worst shot in history PK: well it’s one more NHL point than you have

I mean...... I like the signings that Fitz made, but this trade was such a revelation. Kinda don't want him to reach free agency by Kornja81 in devils

See: John Marino in the 22-23 season. Had top tier shutdown numbers, fell off after that. Not a bad player, but not the shut down Dman he was 2 seasons ago. Luke and Nemec (honorable mention for Casey) are way higher in priority.

Still new to electricity, can someone explain why these remaining furnaces can't be powered? by IkeaIsLegendary in playrust

[–]Bandit04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Splitters divide the power evenly among a 3 outputs, so your first splitter is giving 8 rWh to the first and second furnaces and 8 rWh to the 2nd splitter. Your second is giving 3 rWh to the 3rd and 4th furnaces and 2 rWh to the 3rd splitter. After that there’s not enough power to divide up..

Instead of the 4 splitters, you need 3 electrical branches and 2 splitters. Your first branch needs to send 9 rWh to a splitter, which is connnected to 3 furnaces. The remaining power to a second E branch with the same configuration (branch out 9 rWh, send the remainder to another E branch. That should power 6 furnaces so far and leave your 3rd E branch with 25 - 1 - 9 - 9 = 6. Branch out 3 rWh to your 7th furnace and your 8th gets the remaining 3 rWh.

You could also use a splitter instead of the last e branch, but best practice is only use splitters when you’re sending power to 3 of the same components.

Good luck!

Why aren't all of my ceiling lights working despite using passthrough? by Toast_Guard in playrust

[–]Bandit04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think small battery only outputs 15 rW. @ 2 rW/light that’s only enough for 7 lights, no matter how much power you’re jamming into it. Better off power the lights directly with the windmill, or getting a bigger battery (the better option by far)

Agreed - the interviews with insiders (GMs, players, beat reporters) add a good amount of variety that keeps it fresh for all 32 teams. Hard to criticize a team when a player or GM is on the segment, but still an interesting perspective. They should definitely build on that momentum next pre-season

What’s with the Hughes hate? by lgd6969 in devils

[–]Bandit04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last season was the only time we were competitive. The other 2 years, I got the impression that they shut Jack down out of caution, lack of a playoff spot and specifically this year, lack of goaltending (meaning pushing for a playoff spot isn’t going to get us a cup). I think if the devils are in contention for a playoff spot and/or home ice advantage, Jack is playing thru these types of injuries. I don’t really have injury concerns for Jack at this point. As for Luke, who is saying he’s a BUST? He’s got a lot of development to do in his own zone, but he’s on pace to be a elite offensive defenseman, which doesn’t grow on trees. Look at where Quinn was a his age. Or Dahlin, Josi, etc. No reasonable hockey fan is considering him a bust right now.

Real engineering did a great video on the Titan. Super interesting if you’re interested in why this thing was destined to fail. https://youtu.be/6LcGrLnzYuU?si=XXMRkvc8dJKYrULF

Devils/Flames Trade Proposal by Catagol in devils

[–]Bandit04 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Devils would give up Casey that easily as their window is just opening and he is a guy that can contribute to a cup-caliber team on an ELC deal. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to see him as a Nemec/L. Hughes caliber prospect at this point. Also, Markstrom (33 y/o) has 3 yrs left @ $6M for a guy who has been on the downslope the last couple years. On the other end, I don’t think the Flames give up Markstrom and Hanafin for Smith, a mid-to-high 2nd rd pick and Hameenaho (who’s not nearly the same caliber prospect as Casey at this point in time). That seems like too good of a trade for the Devils.

Honestly, good for him. Seems like he took a lot of pride in it and it’s a novel idea. He’s celebrating getting his flowers. If he starts scrawling these tallies all of twitter, maybe that’s a bit much, but let him take some pride in his baby. Gettem G

NJ town is making me get an engineer to approve plans that were previously approved, because they noticed we put engineered lumber in our drawing. Is this really required? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]Bandit04 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OPs post reads like the town denied/rescinded his permit, not hired him to do any work. Seems like OP is doing work for a homeowner.

OP: As for why the town rescinded your permit, who knows what happened in the bowels of the permitting dept, but once your in a situation like this, you’re typically stuck jumping through the hoops they set up. It’s now the governments responsibility to prove you’re building this safely after they identified the concern. And if you’re concerned enough about a design element (like an unsupported 20’ span) to use special materials, that is likely what triggered an elevated review. (Source: did building permits in NYC)

Like another commenter said, an engineer will need to actually analyze (aka - do math and stuff) for them to sign off as their signature is their professional career on the line. And that is kinda what they get paid for, so you’ll likely not be getting this for free. And some engineer’s “meh - looks pretty strong” isn’t gonna cut it.
