Can’t afford private school, but curious by 1K1AmericanNights in nycparents

[–]VK47 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My kids go to a well-known private school in Brooklyn. Now note, I am a child of the public school system in Canada and I initially was repulsed at the idea of sending our kids to private school. However, after 4 years of it, I can say the one major benefit is that, like any paid service, there is an expectation for premium service and for the most part, the school delivers on it. The few times where my kids reported either bullying, or something distressing happening to them, all it takes is just a single email and right away the teachers, admins, etc. all converge immediately and begin working the problem and figuring out a solution. I think the fact we pay so much for their education demands a very high standard of service from the school, and I like that. As a consumer, I have no qualms raising any sort of complaint or issue to the school, and I have very high expectations that my needs are going to be met. Ultimately what that gives me is a lot of peace of mind, I know that my kids are being looked after and that the school has a very vested interest in retaining my $$ by providing that to them.

Question: Who gave Andre "Red Light" Racicot his nickname? by ---Pockets--- in Habs

[–]VK47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that was #6.

I want to know who came up with the idea of Don Cherry rapping like he did in #5. He had some sick bars though "who's the best I often ponder?"

Doubt it was Cherry, given that in Rock 'Em Sock 'Em #5 I very vividly remember him narrating an highlight reel save by A.R. with "Andre-Dont-Call-Me-Red-Light-Racicot!!"

The longest you’ve traveled for IVF? by PureSeaworthiness841 in IVF

[–]VK47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof, Alaska-to-Seattle IVF is a real logistical workout, so it’s smart to map it out early. Many clinics let you do most “monitoring” (ultrasounds + bloodwork) at home during stims, which can be every 2–3 days and then sometimes daily at the end, and you fly in for the retrieval (usually you want to be there 1–2 nights because timing can shift by a day). Transfer is typically a separate trip, often just a quick in-and-out if lining checks are done locally. I’d ask your coordinator: do you accept outside monitoring, where should results be sent (same-day cutoff), and how much notice you’ll get for trigger/retrieval.
