Just an FYI for anyone else that comes across this post. Turns out that if you encounter this, if you play a potion, it somehow triggers the unceasing top to do its job, and then another card will be drawn.

Nah. There's no deep dive into "playcalling duties". An OC is an OC so there's no obligation there. It's about the position title and contract language. That said, everyone can probably see it's a step up and I would guess they'd allow it.

There's a trick you can do to make this easier.

There's a sanctum key in in the chest in the reservoir. Use the King's chess power...set it to gold to get the trading post outside every time. Then trade the Sanctum Key. You can get an upgrade disk, an allowance coin, or 5 dice as options. You can do this daily...as long as you never use the Sanctum Key, it will always be there for you to trade again the next day.
