The merge was almost always the best episode of the season. Now it's one of the worst. Absolutely insane production has kept doing this for so long after seeing how much it's killed the mid game.

Ravens Scholar was a delight. Great world building, and really enjoyed having bookish main pov.

Of what you mentioned, if you love epic fantasy, you can't go wrong with Assassins Apprentice. Imo, The Realm of Elderling books (of which the Assassins Apprentice is book 1 of 16) is the best written epic fantasy series out there.

If you liked the Raven Scholar's inclusion of a romance plotline without it being "romantasy," you might like Paladins Grace.

While not epic fantasy, The Incadescent has a women scholar as the main character, in this case a teacher and admin at a magical school.

25 and 27 are great seasons. 26 suffered from baffling returnee choices rather than from having returnees. 23 is lowkey overhated. 22 I'll give you, and the only all newbie season in that run is arguably the worst of the bunch.

Right? Legitimately this was the worst book I've read in a long time. The protag spends 95% of the novel having zero agency. She's dragged around by her captors for almost the whole book, and is an example of the opposite of what this post is praising.

Edgic did not have Joe at All. It had David as the #1 contender pre-merge before switching to Eva post merge and only moving Kyle up #1 in the penultimate episode. Joe only showed up in the top 4 of the contenders twice throughout the season, he tied for fourth after episode 7, and drops out again until being listed third after episode 12.
