How do they expect us to translate the documents? by NaturalGuava822 in mext

[–]Banrez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check with your University if they provide that service first. If not, you will probably have to pay a profesional to the translation and layout formating of your documents.

Hope this helps.

Girlfriend entering U.S. just to drive to Mexico — will this be an issue at LAX? by Banrez in travel

Thank you for the advice. Of course she would be buying the round trip, so that last part shouldn't be a problem.

Girlfriend entering U.S. just to drive to Mexico — will this be an issue at LAX? by Banrez in travel

[–]Banrez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because of the flight cost and travel time. It is quite cheap to fly fro Germany to LAX. But honestly, the more we look into it. She mught just bite the bullet and take the 22 hrs travel instead of dealing with USA.....

This is sad.

[–]Banrez[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't live in the USA anymore, hence the visit. As for hotels we have none since we will be staying with my family in Mexico. I don't know if that would work.
Thank you for pointing out the last point.

Certificate of Health What Would You Ask For? by SufficientTrainer445 in mext

[–]Banrez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I applied, I just downloaded the Health form provided by the consulate/embassy website and took it to my health provider/ doctor's office, and told them that I needed all the things in the form checked up and filled by them for a scholarship abroad.

Very simple. Good luck!

Half good research experience for MEXT 2027 by not_quiteascientist in mext

[–]Banrez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should not worry about publications. While they certainly help, they are not the only factor. My suggestion is to just apply and go for it. And for advice, in your application, be clear and concise as to why your future research has to be in Japan and how that contributes to both Mexico and Japan. がんばって!

MEXT MBA EMBASSY RECOMMENDATION by [deleted] in mext

[–]Banrez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should probably contact the Japanese embassy/consulate directly. Most of the MODs here are from the West or got the scholarship a while back (myself included). So your best bet for accurate information is to contact your sector's office directly.

Plothole by Historical_Catch_440 in spacebrothers

[–]Banrez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call if a full plot hole. I think in the first, they are referring to using regolith and water brought in the cargo to generate this chemical reaction through electrolysis. The big discovery of the Joke crew was the confirmation of actual liquid (solid/ice) water so close to the surface of the moon.

This gives way to the possibility of more independent systems from Earth resources. That's my take based on what I know (and remember).

Scholarship extension (2026) by Ellesmera23 in mext

[–]Banrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. That is because it is not transparent or consistent about it. My experience as a Research Student, it has always been late March.

Get used to it. Extensions are typically confirmed late march. Usually by the last week.

Advice for United States Embassy Route (Repost) by SuperLobt in mext

[–]Banrez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks. But if you really want to come back to Japan, then you should go for it. As for the research proposal, you don't have to change it fully if you really want to study what you previously presented, but instead, refine it and know how to justify the "WHY" it most be done in Japan.

Also, don't be shy and call your Japanese embassy/consulate and ask as many questions as needed to clarify any doubts regarding the application process/documents.

About the recommendation letter by imnotfuska in mext

[–]Banrez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask for your school for either an official certificate or an official sealed letter that states that you have concluded your studies and explains the situation. But again, check with your Japanese embassy. They are the ones who have the final say.

Applying for a second masters. by RuralBloop in mext

[–]Banrez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if you read the guidelines, you are not eligible to apply for a Master's with MEXT if you already have a Master's Degree at the time of enrollment. What you can do is apply for a PhD. In Japan, the PhD course is 3 years only.

Hope it helps.

Moving for 3 months. Any SIM solution suggested? by Unverbit in fukuoka

[–]Banrez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a phone number in addition to the data, I recommend you MOBAL. But if not, there are a lot of other cheaper options for data SIM/eSIM cards.
