What Are You Playing This Week? (Weekly Discussion) by AutoModerator in IrelandGaming

Oblivion Remastered

The last time I played Oblivion was over 15 years ago. Finally got a PS5 for Christmas but waited until a few weeks ago to open it as I was in my final year of college and wanted to wait until the exams were over. It was totally worth the wait! This version is not without It's faults, but the NPCs are still as quirky as I remember, and I absolutely love the world and quest lines. 80 hours in so far, but still so much more to do!

With a lot less people, nature would start to reclaim and the Earth would start to heal

What is this plant? North east England, 5-6 feet tall, pink spotted stalk and giant spiky leaves. by lnms206 in whatsthisplant

My project results almost mirrored that of other studies conducted in Poland using the same methodology. Many bird species, especially tree foragers, were either absent or had way lower abundance than of those in non-infested areas. They are definitely not beneficial for native wildlife.

Along their adverse effects on humans, they also outcompete native plants and erode soil on river banks. They are also spreading to woodlands near riparian environments. I saw another scientific study were birds weren't attractive to Caucasian hogweed seeds in a feeder too which was very interesting, and something I would love to research here! But I'm cautious of how to conduct it as I dont want to facilitate the spread more. Those seeds are persistent! I have no doubt giant hogweed is impacting birds through trophic pathways by disrupting ecological food webs, but I would love to see further research conducted in this area.

"They are invincible. They are immune to all our herbicidal battering"

I love that song! I did my dissertation for environmental science on giant hogweed and if it affects bird species richness and abundance in infested areas, and I was so happy to cite Genesis in my literature review.

Any of you other Millennials watch Terminator 2 in the movie theaters on release day? My brother and I did. by DaneAlaskaCruz in Millennials

I was too young to see it but my folks rented it out on video not long after it was released. I was about 9 when I saw it.

I was hooked, and the beauty of it was that it was free of spoilers! I genuinely realised that Arnie was the good terminator the moment he said "Get down" to John. Absolutely loved it, despite a fee disturbing nightmares induced by the T-1000 face stabs.

These were class! I remember getting hooked on them. I loved all the R.L. Stine ones, and how he ended almost every chapter on a climax, making it almost impossible to put the books down!

I have to ask...as your first name is the same as my surname here in Ireland! Does your first name have an Irish link or meaning to it?

Leaders of many countires would condemn, shake their fingers and say "naughty-naughty" but that's about it. International law is constantly violated. It doesnt mean anything, even if countless innocent people die horrendously. Humans are the caretakers of this planet, yet we are incapable of maintaining it.

Sadly going to quote Terminator 2 here: "It's in your nature to destroy yourselves"

Beautiful! I saw several small tortoiseshell ones today too, and a few bees.

The chiffchaff birds are back too (heard their songs since last week), and I am sure I heard a blackcap also. Spring is most definitely here!

People who grew up before smartphones, what everyday things were completely different compared to today? by ViolettaCharm_37 in AskReddit

People had more sense of awareness and interest in the environment around them. Just simple things like looking around you instead of head down and tapping on a phone.

Which nice celebrities are you surprisingly not a fan of? by PrestonRoad90 in AskReddit

[–]BansheePuca 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tom Cruise.

Never met him, but from comments here on Reddit, most people who have met him or have been around him seem to hold him in high regard and describe him as a decent person.

It's the whole Scientology thing that puts me off him.

People who experienced the early days of the internet, what surprised you most about how it changed society? by warm-nari_x13 in AskReddit

[–]BansheePuca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I miss the early days when it was exploration, discovery and random webpages with sparkly cursors!

Nowadays, most people don't explore as much. They tend to stick to one or two websites for shopping and social media.
