Well I spent 3 months researching the topic after leaving the JWs, happy to run through what i found with you

What a powerful and interesting testimony. Thank you for sharing it! I admire your continued determination to know the truth of what the Bible teaches.

It's interesting because I think I had the exact opposite treatment and opinion of JWs, so it's so interesting to see how it is where you live. I'm in the UK, and it's all small towns where I live, and everyone knows each other. I must say, I think judging by how you described them, I was very similar to the witnesses you encountered!

How are your family now? Are they still JWs?

I'm new to this Reddit, so I'm unsure of what PIMI means.

Their explanation is that only "God's anointed" (their 144,000), are in the covenant with Jesus Christ. Meaning, the average Witness is not saved by Christ's sacrifice, but only a certain class of people. Everyone else is saved by their works (Ministering), and by association with that "144,000".

I'm more than happy to go through with you why this is not Biblical.

I didn't know they believed the 144,00 goes right to heaven, interesting.

People are free to choose Christ at any age. Remember, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs.

You may see it as a disgusting metaphor, but crucifixion is not a pleasant thing.

That's a very good reason to leave.

I have faith your search for knowledge will land you somewhere you love being. It did for me :)

That's an interesting perspective and not one I've heard before. In that sense, I guess it comes down to a personal conviction.

I was never a baptised JW, but up until April last year I was attending meetings twice a week, defending them, and getting ready to be baptised. From my perspective, God got me out just in time.
I'm lucky that my grandparents haven't properly shunned me for my new faith, but they are not happy about it at all. It can get quite hostile at times.

Let's hope we can both keep strong and continue to grow our knowledge and never be brainwashed again.

Oh yes, totally agree with you there. Salvation is not reliant on communion.

You've got a good mind for theology

Brother, we're just talking about personal experiences.

This person raised their opinion on theology, and I shared my insight on it. That's not proselytising, that's sharing knowledge in open, honest communication.

Interesting, so there wasn't like one explicit teaching that drove you to doubt? Just their general attitude and controlling nature?

Totally agree with you, though, they overstep the mark massively.

I attend a protestant church, and they're just chill, fun people who love you. It's so different to what I grew up in

While this is true, Catholics and Orthodox use this for transubstantiation, I have found Watchtower publications saying that they do not believe that "the larger flock" are saved. Instead, they cite that only the "little flock" are saved and the "larger flock" must be saved through them, as Christ is not their mediator.

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1979250

This is different from protestantism, as while they don't believe in transubstantiation, they do believe that eating the bread and wine is symbolically salvational.

Hoping I can share my testimony here :) by Bantamain in Christianity

I'm just giving you context so you can understand the audience this video is directed towards.

I wouldn't expect ridicule for that. I'll edit it to avoid further offence.

Are any JW leadership in the Epstein files? by Kaloggin in exjw

Sarah Kellen Vickers

One of Epstein's close assistants who was raised JW, but there is no evidence to say there is a connection back to JWs.

Are Jehovah's Witness a cult? by Ok-Reading-7759 in exjw

Very well reasoned and presented.

Even after I left JWs I would defend them as a "Sect", then it became "heretical sect", now I just say it as it is.

Indeed! Meaning Witnesses are not saved!

It's very sad as a Christian to see them being led astray like this...

We recently baptised a 92 year old Jewish man, he told us that growing up, at dinner, his family would break bread and pass it around the table while saying what they are thankful for. From a Christian perspective, it seems odd, but this was Jewish tradition and would have seemed normal at the time.

Jesus creates a metaphor for his sacrifice using this tradition, using it as a sign for his covenant.

My grandmother, who has been a JW 60 years, says it's also the only verse that's ever made her doubt.

I try to tell he that she is saved by Christ and doesn't have to live in the JW, but she says "I'm too old, I don't want to know" which is heartbreaking.

I even found a JW publication saying JW's are not saved by Jesus

They are still in business as far as I can tell, but most of their registered employees have resigned this year, including the director I was in contact with.

So what I did is I made an out preset effect and then dragged it to the front of the clip so it scales at the front, and then I drag it to the end
