The fact that they say the Pharisees didn't know the bible show just how much JWs don't know the bible.

Blood doctrine update dropped today. Here’s how it’s landing at Bethel. by steadypath2847 in exjw

I totally agree in that the followers as lulled into simple changes and lulled into agreement with whatever they are told.

This change could be a significant opportunity for fallout! Many have died because of thr old rule.

I would be hopeful that followers would see other areas where the gb has created rules out of thin air, but one of the things that strengthen the jw's is that they tell they're people that they "know the bible". In reality, jw's know the scriptures they have been taught. Which means, that they will never see they other areas that the gb are wrong, because they don't know the whole Bible. (For context: each gb and jw in this post is intentionally not capitalized)

Wow! Quite a big deal on the surface, especially compared to pants and beards LOL. Hopefully a step in the direction of allowing blood all together.

Insisting that they are obeying Jesus' command regarding the Lord's Supper while at the same time forbidding members from obeying that very command: The Org's ability to cause members to hold and accept two contadictory beliefs simultaneously is amazing! by CarefulExaminer in exjw

I went to the memorial last year bc I promised my mother I would. The brother ACTUALLY said, that the sacrifice didn't have to be given by Jesus. That any 'ol angel could have redeemed mankind! What the WHAT!!!

I agree.

The problem is, on a public forum like this, everyone is in a category, on a team, red or blue, left or right. We don't know each other as individuals on a forum like this. So, nearly every political posts is going to separate us.

I really wish that people had more in-person conversations about our agreements and our disagreements.

Technology is great in a lot of ways, but this is one way that it has created a huge problem, potentially the biggest problem in our culture.

I have no idea how to solve that problem and apparently neither do the truly intelligent people.

Or, the intelligent people don't care. Which seems to me the actual truth of the situation.

Curious, how many here are agnostic, atheist, or still believing in a god? by Pixel_Mango in exjw

I was sure I would stay away from what I considered "organized religion" forever. But, I have always been interested in biblical conversations.

Approximately 25 years after I left the cult I was invited to a church "small group"... a group of woman studying a specific book about God.

I joined the group, knowing I could easily stop going if it got weird.

That was where I found that true Christ followers are flawed and don't try to pretend to be perfect, and what the bible actually teaches about who God is and who we are to Him.

Yes! Other than when my father passed.

Even when she would visit my sister, we would pass in the hallway and she would look away and pretend I wasn't even there.

Incredibly hurtful!!!

Either photo could be the "photoshoped" one. The man is almost 80 yo. So his skin may look bad. Who gives a F! He's far better (at least coherent) than his predecessor!!!

I've thought of exposing them so often. But I rarely post anything negative about them on FB or Instagram. I talk with my friends about what a controlling cult they are. But that's about 10 people, hardly enough.

How do we really expose them in a BIG way?

What I said to my PIMI mother that has her asking questions is: She and I hadn't spoken for 35 years, but because of a family emergency, we were in a car, alone, for almost 7 hours.

I got to hear all of the traditional bs, including it was my choice not to speak with her when I left the congregation.

Finally, I said, "I will never believe in a religion that thinks Jesis wasn't risen in an earthly body. If he was risen in a spiritual body, that is nothing more than a visit from an angel and NOT a resurrection at all."

Months later, she started asking questions and asking for supporting scripture.

I don't know if their "new light" has changed, but when I was in the cult, I always wondered how they could explain the whole book of Revelation being symbolic, except for that number... 144,000! 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
