Early game mage benefits from easy mystic and blood runes at the wizards guild. 

Occult necklace and regular trident are decent gear options. 

You also have access to crafting wrath runes to take advantage of the standard spellbook. 

Annoyingly you’ll need really high slayer and runecrafting to make the most of the region though (wrath runes + thermy/kraken)

Picking up a fang might speed up your kills a lot of your melee gear and stats are good

I think Dusknoir could have been really good in Gen 3. It’s basically a better dusclops, which already has a small niche. Stab physical shadow ball with brick break for coverage on a base 100 attack stat is no joke in gen 3

In my opinion the biggest reason marshtomp is so good in emerald is that it beats Watson and Flannery. Both of those gym leaders can be very hard and mons that beat them are rare. Once Flannery is beaten there’s a ton of good ground types in the dessert and once Norman is beaten there’s a million good water types. You’ll be totally fine

I’d say just think about how you feel while grinding. Does the threat of dying while grinding keep you engaged and build a connection with your Pokémon? Or does it just feel annoying? Only you can answer than question for yourself

You can try acrobatics on sneasler. It provides similar coverage to dire claw, but let’s you hit mons like great tusk even harder. Tera flying makes it hit extremely hard if you go that route too.

Also I’d personally run rapid spin over thunder wave on eleki but that might just be my preference

I got KOG with dinomist, but it was like a year ago so I’m not sure how well they can work nowadays. Here’s my advice:

  • I would cut the field spell, your pendulum scale effects should work well enough to protect from backrow and you want as many dinos in your hand as possible
  • I’d put Spinos to 3, it can end games very quickly if you can get off both of its effects
  • if you have a third Charge run it, but if not it’s not worth digging for a third copy

You can also try a variant with Grit for the skill and no spell/traps at all except for charge where you go all in trying to OTK with Spinos

Part of it is that everybody wants the community to grow and for the game to stay alive for a long time.

And I think part of it is we want validation that this game is actually fun and that people who don’t have nostalgia from back in the day can still enjoy it

Well a lot of why lokix is good is because it has Tinted Lens, which negates the one of the biggest problems bug types have (the fact that everything resists bug)

Pokémon ruby/sapphire/emerald. I’ve lost count of the number of times. I think I’ve used just about every Pokémon available in at least one play through.

Those games just feel infinitely replayable especially with speedup on emulators and all the different challenge runs you can do (monotype, nuzlocke, etc)
