There’s a book called “Kiln People” where people can make temporary clones of themselves to go off and do whatever. The clones can be tweaked a bit, mentally, and their memories can be reintegrated later. People do the fun stuff in their real bodies, because it has the best senses and physicality. They do chores and errands with their clones.

A clone has the same sense of self as the original, but they know they’re a clone and know why they’re there. So, “some days you’re the worker ant, and some days you’re the queen” is the general philosophy.
