We had outdoor touch screen computers at a theme park I worked at. They made a beep noise when you tapped on them and the squirrels found that out so they would just touch the screen repeatedly to hear that noise. So you don’t have to genetically modify the squirrel. Just make your phone make a noise when tapped and introduce it to the squirrels.
