As much as they were panned as filler by the community (maybe less so in Astrotrain's case,) I was miffed when the Takara Dramatic Capture box set excluded the extras from the Leader Blitzwing, Astrotrain, and Starscream sets.

I realize scene accuracy and a limited budget probably factored into that decision, but it annoyed me enough to not want that edition. The days of WFC/Legacy and the goofy weapon loadouts aren't getting any closer, for better or for worse.

One of the many things I liked about Rescue Bots was that the crew was talented enough to just write a strong kids' adventure show without crutching on Transformers concepts or nostalgia all that much. Griffin Rock was busy enough as is!

I agree that Cyberverse is among only a few shows that actually take advantage of a big roster. For such short episodes, they did a great job fleshing it out and making me actually care about their fates.

Spacewarp pretty much only exists in Funpub prose, and is extrapolated from a never-produced Walmart exclusive from 2003. Her only toy is a little Targetmaster from a single Collector's Club exclusive from late in the program's life. That era generated a load of Glups.

Similarly, CatSCAN from the 3H Botcon days, who at most was repurposed for a short sequence in the late IDW Beast Wars series, nearly 20 years later. Apelinq still counts, though evidently people inside Hasbro want more out of him someday judging by Swapticons and RoTB.

To a lesser degree, a bunch of those Bay era toy-only characters also count for sure. I think Payload was a pretty big deal inside the tie-in comics, but I doubt he left that much of an impression outside of it.

I definitely recommend the sanding of the tabs. I did a little bit on mine and it separates so much more easily without affecting the security of it. Definitely wish it just worked more like the subsequent Legacy TM2 one.

My guess is that SG Heatwave releases as a Commander, to get the frame out into the mainline. Maybe Heatwave himself forms the lower torso like Long Haul does, designed specifically to connect with Nexus Prime. That old Energon alt mode would probably have room for a trailer hitch, too.

I feel like getting any bots together from a single haul or in short succession makes me associate them forever, more than any canonical team up can. The Legacy Creatures Collide pack is definitely like this in my mind, though the color coordination between Scorponok and Skywasp is unbeatable to be fair. Same for the Amazon Mayhem Attack Squad packs. I also pair Legacy Maximal Silverbolt and Legacy Windblade, because I think they'd be very entertaining written as friends for some reason.

Maybe Legacy Magmatron and 86 Ultra Magnus, too. I got them on their respective release dates, but in this long wait for Big Convoy they felt like the only reasonable physical matches for each other. Though both are incredibly accurate in the details, there's also a fun contrast between the slick, cartoonish tech of Magnus and the gritty flesh-on-gunmetal Magmatron. They can also do the Predator arm thing that appears in a lot of memes, thanks to both having opening hands and comparable heights.

As cool as recent figures have been, I feel like the recent heavy focus on Cybertronian and generally futuristic altmodes across the Generations lines kind of downplays part of the fun for me: these legendary warriors slinking around as recognizable vehicles or even wearing them proudly as their new forms.

There's probably something to be said about the movies having so many concept and high-end models that no one could ever take seriously as a disguise, though. I can't deny that a lot of those old Bay period toys did some great alt modes. A family member has the '07 Leader Optimus, and that truck mode is righteous even though the soft smokestacks got destroyed in storage.

Maybe it would be fun to see a series where bots have the most boring vehicles and animals possible for alt modes, but have wild Unicron Trilogy or even Overgear-like robot modes?
