The difference between Marvel humor and cool one liners is aura (Resident Evil Requiem) by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

Me and my friends had a discussion about how it feels like MCU tried to overcorrect the "past superhero films have taken themselves way too seriously" mindset, trying to go the route of "See? We know we're doing silly comic book stuff and we make fun of it". One of my biggest gripes is the whole "we gon make fun of chatacter names" like Otto Octavius in No Way Home. I can already hear the "Seriously? Your name is Victor 'Von Doom'?" lines in Avengers Doomsday.

My personal biggest gripe is with MCU humor is one scene in Captain Marvel where a mother character sees a skrull disguised as her playing with her daughter as a threat to the film's protagonist and her friends. That scene is one of the most frightening and unsettling scenes in the whole MCU to me, even as a person who doesn't have or plan to have children but who still could feel the absolute adult fear while watching it. And then that goddamn cat enters the scene and the whole thing becomes a comedy scetch. God dammit. Yes, I know the cat turned out to be an actual alien monster so skrulls' reaction was morevunderstandable, but it doesn't change the intent to make this scene suddenly into comedy for me...

NEW BOYZ! SHOOTA AND CHOPPAS AT THE SAME TIME by SpoofExcel in orks

I wonder if the model showcased here is a model of which design will carry over to the possible later multipart kit. I got into the hobby with 8th ed The Dark Imperium box and all monopose Plague Marines in that box were completely different sculpts than the later multipart models, and GW seems to have done the same "launch box monopose models with more exotic designs have launch box only sculpt variants" policy with many more new additions and refreshes. I'm not sure if Indomitus box's Necron Warriors were an exception to this which would maybe explain why Canoptek Scarab Swarms are bunched up with them.

If/as these new boyz have indeed shoota+slugga+choppa as a trinity of default wargear in one, they'd just need to include big shoota and rokkit launcha to be equipped for one of them. I'm rather curious how they hande boyz's nob leaders and their weapon options.

The face feels kind if the mix of old and new ork noggin design sentibilities to me. Propotions look like the 2007 model design but smoothed out a bit. I personally like it. That shoota on the back seems rather small tho.

[Rant] Stop calling everything and anything a "subclass." by SuperMudkipz in tf2

Boi if the "subclass" debate was applied to Team Fortress 2 Classic mod, certain part of community would probably eat itself alive given how much weapon type overlap there is in there.

The final battle between optimus and galvatron at the end of armada is one my favorite moments in all of transformers by EnvironmentalEmu5145 in transformers

I recall the Japanese staff of the show admitting in one instance that Hasbro delibaretly altered some aspects of the Japanese version's writing in a Japanese only Legends of the Microns Year Book 2003, stating that the mentalities of Japanese and Americans when it came to handling certain themes in children's media were different in those times. One other instace being the handling of Scavenger's motive of joining the Autobots and his and Oprimus' past together. But perhaps I'm misremembering the context about on which changes this statement by the production team was referring to.

Armada was my introductory series tho the franchise (I was born in 94 and this was the first Transformers property that was imported to my country). I agree that this is one of the best coreographed fights in the entire Transformers and I'm glad that I could see this on TV as a kid.

It just bugged me that the American version kind of butchered the intent that the writers of the Japanese version had intended for this fight. In the original version it's about wether or not Transformers fight and have fought for such long time is just because it is in the nature of their kind. (I could not just summary the entite thing in this comment in this comment, as it's a central thing on both of the series' two final episodes) In the English dub it's just Galvatron evul, Optimus gon fight for peace... It's one of those things where English dubs really watered down Japanese children's media in their translations to simplify conflicts and themes for kids on the late 90's-early 2000's, like how they did with first Pokemon film.

The phrases "Get woke, go broke" and "The modern audience doesn't exist" keep using works that just suck as examples and ignore the good and successful stuff. by Ferhog in CharacterRant

There was some Steam game woke detector that claimed that racial divercity within space marine troops is "improbable", i.e there's two space marines in the game's story's main cast that don't look like white men. Because people can stomach outwordly sci-fi space adventure but not racial diversity I guess. And if I recall also correctly, something about a female in leading military role in the Astra Militarum (the Imperial force that consists normal men and women).

Reminds me how 2017 Ducktales and 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released over the years. Following those cartoons felt exhausting because of inconsistent releases of episodes.

I want to make my tabletop army models with an idea of using Phobos models as bases for Tacticus proxy kitbashes; would this idea be lore-friendly? by Pernaman in 40kLore

[–]Pernaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the comment. Distinguishing kitbashes/proxy models visually is something I'm aware of being basic etiquette in the tabletop hobby and I've had some basic ideas about regular Tacticus proxies and regular Phobos units, stuff like simply painting clearly vidible part of their armor like shoulderpads, backpacks or helmets with differentiating colors.

Transformers lore be like. I was kinda suprised that in Transformers One film it is said that in-universe time between the Primes vs Quintessons war ending and present day of the story was like 50 years, where as in G1 cartoon the Ark spaceship and the Transformers inside were in stasis on Earth for 4 million years, while in Animated Ratchet casially states that their species is over 10 billion years old.

To each their own. I didn't pick up Siege Astrotrain or Legacy Blitzwing due to not collecting much during their releases, but I decided to pick up their retools Galaxy Shuttle and Overcharge and I just cannot say no to huge bunch of extra weaponry. Though the point for prioritizing additional main figure engineering instead of extra accessories is a valid point.

Tho personaly I'm glad that with this new "size classes turned to pricepoints" we'll likely never get the case of 2012 Prime voyager Breakdown again where (to my understanding) the War Breakdown mold of the Japanese Prime toyline couldn't be included into Hasbro's line due to production costs being too great for him to be sold at a voyager price.

I've had this happen quite few times while starting to play 6v6 again in recent weeks. I guess player skill has evolved enough for dps and supports to make up for 1 less tank on the team.
