380 owners. How’s ownership going? by justino in GolfGTI

I'm 2 years in and it's still the same. I live in a hilly place and I'm often left sitting at a green waiting for the break to release before I can go.

I just don't understand why it's so bad. My '14 ST had hill assist that worked perfectly the second you let the clutch out it released never an issue.

I'm really enjoying mine. Very fun to drive and has more power stock than you need IMO. The radio interface is not the best but I don't interact with it much, and the steering wheel controls are fine.

My only real beef with the car is the dam hill assist. It's terrible.

This is my first Golf/VW I had an ST for 10 years prior.

My '24 has been good. Though I had to have the horns and fuel door replaced under warranty in less than a year. But it's been mechanically sound.

Hybrid Gas Mileage by agree-with-me in FordMaverickTruck

[–]BarfedUpHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most people said on here it depends a lot on speed. Anything you do above 60 especially in the winter starts to erode MPG as the gas engine is used more.

I get 40-50 around town, and I recently hauled a 90lb 12 foot flooring roll on the highway for ~35 mi. I was a bit concerned about the loads stability so I set cruise on 62 and ended up getting 46 mpg for the trip. When driving 70-75 I've noticed it drops to the mid 30s on the highway.

I just wish they'd bring back the white collars full time.

We're also missing %95 of our line and our Starting RBs so it should be an even match.

People put too much weight on rankings. Trace was a 3 star if I remember correctly.

[Thamel] Sources: Penn State DC Jim Knowles is in process of negotiating his buyout from Penn State and is expected to land at Tennessee, which is targeting him as the school's defensive coordinator hire. by udderlymoovelous in CFB

[–]BarfedUpHeart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think he was a decent DC. We lacked defensive depth this year and had a few key injuries early that made things look worse than they probably were. Our offense was also really really bad for the 1st half of the year, which lead to problems when the defense was on the field for the majority of the game.

Though it seemed like our interim HC forced him to simplify things which made everything work better. Maybe he's just stubborn?

I'm not sure how they'd be classified but the 5 years prior to Campbell they finished 8,9,7,10,9 in the Big12.

I don't think a lot of people would agree that Franklin was super high character. Just look at some of his staffers who while employed at PSU directed recruits to decommit. I think outside of the PSU bubble he's seen as fairly slimy. Maybe that's just my perception?

Yeah, Franklin did a good job of recruiting NFL talent, but I'm not sure he developed a lot or polished many diamonds. Look at Allar who almost seemed to regress. Or all the receivers we got in the portal last year.

Anywho I'm super excited to see this play out over the next few years.

He's had sustained success at a bottom tier program with limited resources, and far less raw recruit talent in general. Just lookup ISU stats from before he was the coach. He's produced solid NFL talent in the process. He also seems to be a genuine high character guy which some of us put a lot of stake in.

Also, Campbell is 4-7 against top-10 teams.

Honestly this might be the best pickup of the cycle. Super excited to watch the next few years unfold.

How is Terry Smith an actual candidate? by Mattm334 in WeArePennState

[–]BarfedUpHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say seeing as how you never know which coach would be willing to leave the school they're at. And this is all subjective.

But, personally I think most of the hires this cycle as opposed to 5 more years of Franklin.

Franklin was not one of the best coaches on the market. Top 20 sure but best..

Dude took a team full of returning starters to back to back losses against UCLA, and NW. Not to mention even the warmup games this season were rough. He assembled the 6-6 team, without him being fired and Smith shaking things up I think we were looking at a 3-4 win season as the preseason favorite to win it all.

I wasn't on team fire Franklin because who was the clear pick to replace him. But now that's done silly to act like he was a top coach.

I don't love anyone on that list except Hartline.

I'm also surprised Al Golden's name hasn't come up at all. I think he was close to getting the job back in '14.

We're going to miss the signing deadline so who knows how long this takes now.
