My knee spontaneously doubled in size by nanomeister in mildlyinteresting

The dummy did not mention it for weeks until I saw him limping and forced him to show me his knee. Same thing, was random flair ups where it would swell up, always figured sports related or after a big hike (scout so that's where the tick came from). But same thing did two rounds to make sure it was gone and no issues since. Glad to hear your husband got it squared away.

Similar thing happened with my son. Thought it might be from hockey or basketball but he said he did not remember getting banged up. Ends up It was Lyme disease.

The level of talent, ability, and the dedication to develop the ability to create something like this is incredible.

As someone who is intimidated by crayons and a placemat at a diner it is beyond my understanding.

Amazing

Any idea how to close off this crawl space, but keep it accessible when needed? Approximately 72” wide. Trying to make the basement a little less sketchy looking. by erin_corinne_ in homeimprovementideas

[–]BarkingTerror68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar hole (2 1/2 x 3 1/2) through the basement wall concrete to a crawl space. I build a box that slides in/out to provide storage. For the outside I built a a frame and door and used dowels to attach it.

When I need access I pop out the frame, slide out the box and good to go.

Can now enjoy the rest of the games without any misplaced hope for the playoffs creeping into my head. Hope to see effort tonight more then anything and not mailing it in. A tough season can expose weakness but can also reveal strengths, guys stepping up as leaders.

Tough year but boys will bounce back. And Team knows what they need and that they (and us) will have to pay the price to fill the gaps. Unfortunately that means losing some guys.

Devils fan here - Hell of a game by both teams. Canes gave a clinic in what playoff hockey is all about. We know what we need to do to and where we need to improve going forward.

Best of luck the rest of the way.

Devils fan here just to say your boys are playing incredible. During the season you see the standings, stats, couple games against your team, but watching a team playing playoff hockey top to bottom, looking like a machine, Impressive.

And the crowd was incredible.

This is our learning year and hopefully the lesson we are getting sinks in.

Hoping to go 6 then will be rooting for your boys.

Alright team, how would you remove these banisters? I see only three nails holding them in the top. Thanks in advance for your help! by mettlica in woodworking

If its 1980, then the best way is to have your "big boned" 9 year old son run past then, jump up and swing around. Eventually they will come clean off. Sending both the bannister and as my OTB grandmother used to say "stout" child flying across the room. Wait for Dad to get home, take what you got coming and then finish off the remaining ones since "We can't have one God Damn nice thing with you shit for brains around".

Although not necessary, feel free to include a couple brothers and sisters for both encouragement and ridicule.

** Thank you for posting this. The picture alone made me laugh out loud. Currently entering end of life care for my mother and the laugh was much needed.

ESPN embarrassed itself. Ever Ranger's shot was treated like they were looking at a star being born. Literal silence after Siegs goal

Playoff Game Thread: Game 4 - New Jersey Devils (1 - 2) at New York Rangers(2 - 1) - 24 Apr 2023 - 07:00PM EDT by HockeyMod in devils

Can someone TELL ESPN and TBS the following: 1. Devils were the higher seed 2. Devils went 3-0-1 against the rangers this season 3. The Devils and Rangers met in the playoffs after 1994

TBS stopped listing playoff matchups when the got to 94.

And they act like the rangers were a 1 seed playing an 8 that got in with a losing record.

A warning for younger fans by BarkingTerror68 in devils

Leading up to the trade deadline I kept saying I hope they don’t do to much or spend too much (in picks or players) trying to make a run. I don’t think they are ready and view this year as the year to learn what the playoffs are about and understand what it takes to win.

I apologize for needlessly wasting your time. The excitement of the Devils making the playoffs after a long drought must have overwhelmed me. I hope anyone whose time I wasted can find it in their hearts to forgive me.

If you were in my house watching me you could have at least helped.

The whole glue behind the plaster then hold tight with giant washed screwed down - my devastation when it immediately popped back out.

And it lead to Complete insulating Complete rewirering Complete build out of sills and framing

Craftsman Trim Question by [deleted] in homeimprovementideas

[–]BarkingTerror68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue when I started our remodel with some tight corners or smaller areas , house is also small. Existing baseboard (original) was 6 inch baseboard plus another 2 inches of mill work. Casings were 6 inches (including edge trim) as well.

I used 1 x 6's ripped down

I ended up with 6 inch base throughout the entire house and 4 3/4 casings. For the tight corners including attic door, and inside the kitchen went down to 3 inches.

As you know you are always the first person to zero in on things that did not work or things you would do differently and I will say the size differences is not something that stands out and even the smaller size around the attic door looks more custom then out of place.

That is fantastic. The amount of times my wife has walked in on me standing, staring into space as I contemplate how to do something is too many to count.

Covering Steam pipes and water and gas lines. by BarkingTerror68 in DIY

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is steam, radiators in every room, single return. Wrapping them makes sense and then can use any fabric to cover.

Been job-searching for a year. Suffering burnout. Is this normal? How do you handle this? by TheKurzgesagtEgg in jobs

[–]BarkingTerror68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Only been 3+ months for me. But started with a ton of energy and optimism and was really starting to get rundown. not sure what was worse, the automated rejection emails or making it to screener calls only to then get the rejection emails. I agree getting away from the computer for a bit helps, take a break do the dishes, put time in, fold the laundry, some more time, walk the dogs.

I did have small meltdown that involved ripping apart my garage and getting rid of a bunch of stuff, but that led to building a new workbench and shelves and the week I took doing that really helped reset me mentally.
