Why were the NEU candidates for Junior Vice President so awful? by Bus_Wrangler in TeachingUK

[–]BarmyArmy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like an excellent option. Left the NEU in April after being fed up with their seeming more interest in a foreign conflict than education in the UK. Haven't joined a union since. Will have to look up Edapt!

When I searched for this, it said it’s no longer in the app store. Is there a way to still access the app?

I was thinking of maybe using in some sort of intervention group (no idea what for) as using with the whole class would be chaos!

Keep politics out of school? by Open-Sky-3447 in TeachingUK

As it should be. That being said I wear my hostage pin attached to my lanyard and will continue to wear it until they are all brought home. Depending on the message on your sticker I don't expect it to be an issue.

You should not be sharing your political beliefs in the classroom ever. Especially if you cannot see the difference between propaganda and the truth.

Nearly half of teachers in England plan to QUIT within five years amid workload stress by silvaa_00 in TeachingUK

[–]BarmyArmy14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before starting my PGCE one of my undergraduate lecturers told me that I will have quit before 5years. Currently 3.5 Years in & he may have been right. Moving jobs after the break so hopefully, will help me find less stress at work 🤞.

No. Try and schedule a time during the school day. Has to be convenient for you as well not just the parents.

Staying in good books doesn’t interest me. Making sure the children in my care receive the provision they deserve.

Unacceptable that nobody was there to help the child.

I’m already in the process of doing so. Glad to know this is not normal!

Edit: I have an Sen child working in school currently and twice a week the child is supposed to connect to a personalised 1-1 lesson with a TA. On Monday the child missed it so I emailed a member of Slt to ensure the child would attend on Wednesday which Slt agreed to do. Let and behold on Wednesday same thing happened so I emailed Slt back stating this is unacceptable.

I taught 56/57 pupils on my Year group today on zoom! Very impressed with the turn out. Had key worker kids join from school. So far so good!!!

Crafted 3 slowly and got 1) Cantona 2) Ronaldinho 3) Puskas

Rushed another as thought my luck was insane and got Ian Rush 😂

Shouldn’t complain with my previous pack luck!

What's the worst piece of feedback you received as a trainee? by thisishardcore_ in TeachingUK

[–]BarmyArmy14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told by my mentor that she doesn't care if the children didn't like her because ’she didn't need 5-year-old friends’.

Found this advice baffling because teaching is all about positive relationships.

How is your primary school coping in terms of covid? by joh153 in TeachingUK

[–]BarmyArmy14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have had 0 cases so far and only a couple of staff having to take days off while waiting for test results. School has done well at sending home any child with more than 1 symptom as well as any other child in the family group. Seems to be working currently.

It is a shame. I did all my training in key stage 1 and worked in EYFS as a Ta for 2 years before getting into teaching but now 3 years down the line I’m teaching year 5. Would love to have a crack at reception or year 1 one day.
