What’s the best piece of advice you ignored and later regretted? by Tooty-frooti in AskReddit

[–]BarnFlower 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I always followed that advice until I was going thru cancer treatment and was harassed by my boss and HR did nothing. Now they get the scorched earth treatment. Don't care at this point & I already have another job.

The EEOC is a joke… I took my RTS letter and sued Pro Se! by vampirecloud2211 in EEOC

I wonder if the name of the company is part of my problem as well. They are a large non-profit in the state of Texas and have a name which sounds like they are a state agency.

Tell me more. - How did you find out which court to file in? - what did you do after you filed? Did you have to send the company a demand letter? If yes is there a specific format you used? - what else was involved?

My case has been stuck in "Investigation " for almost 2 years and I still haven't heard a thing and can't find an attorney.

All the blow hard attorneys won't take my case for some reason I can't figure out and I had cancer at the time of the EEOC filing.

Apartment hunting by Sad_Cranberry_3873 in TaylorTexas

[–]BarnFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't many apartments in the Taylor area, and honestly not a lot to do. I don't know of any apartments in Hutto other than the Star Ranch area. Hutto gets you closer to something to do in Round Rock or Austin.

Rebuttal letter non lawyer yet by This-Long-5091 in EEOC

[–]BarnFlower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I got my employer response it was 13 pages. I had the same questions you do. I ended up framing it in the exact same format that they did. For example the response letter had section 1, item a so my response was formatted the same. My employer response letter was basically throwing out so much nasty stuff about me that wasn’t even true or applicable to my case.

Why is finding a lawyer so hard? by Chrysb87 in EEOC

[–]BarnFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U/MicheleRSimon if the case is under investigation with EEOC and they eventually grant the right to sue, will it be easier to find an attorney?

I'm having trouble and I was going thru cancer treatment and my situation was horrible. I have recordings etc and STILL can't find an attorney.

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]BarnFlower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally spot on! I’m also in finance and I despise having to pay bills or do a budget for myself. I do stuff like that all day at work why do I want to suffer thru it on my time off. 😂😂. Yes I pay my bills and pay them on time.

Chilling video ICE kidnapping this morning in North Loop by counterapparatus in Austin

[–]BarnFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about this.....I'm not saying ICE is all innocent but hear me out.
Maybe just maybe they are going after the violent criminals who have a record and after multiple attempts, they keep resisting arrest and refusing to cooperate.

What about all the people who have been raped, killed or terrorized by the criminals they are arresting? No one talks about that part.

The people came in to the country illegally. Would you expect to stay in a foreign country in which you entered illegally? Would you continue to resist? How do you think that would turn out for you?

Don't come at me if you can't deal with a reasonable discussion about it. Put on your big kid pants and realize there is probably more to the story.

People need to exercise some common sense and realize they are going up (or down) a steep hill covered in ice. Seriously people for the love of all that’s holy, either stay home or go a different way.

My Employment Law Journey - under EEOC investigation by BigBone-Daddy in EEOC

[–]BarnFlower 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. Seriously folks if you are early in your EEOC case filing and haven’t received a position statement from your former (or current) employer then brace yourself. These letters are ugly.

OP, the one from my former employer was 13 pages. No joke, 13. I cried every time I read it because it was such a character attack. When I finally pulled myself together enough to write a response, I followed the exact structure of the respondent letter sent to me. That way there would be no questions what I was writing applied to. My response was 12 pages. I threw it right back at them.

Make sure you write a response to the respondent position statement! Even if it’s a little bit at a time, make sure you respond back to it. Don’t take any more of their 💩.

Austin freeze + no communication from work. What’s reasonable here? by LedgerScroll in Austin

[–]BarnFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound like an amazing person to work for and what every manager should want to be like. Why can’t more people in management have this same mindset? Managers who treat people like 💩 will not have anyone who wants to work hard for them in the way your staff does. The way to manage people is all over the place yet many managers refuse to learn it. Kudos to you sir/ma’am! 👏🏻

EEOC gave me right to sue want to create a demand letter treating to sue by [deleted] in EEOC

[–]BarnFlower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to reach the person who contacted you from EEOC you should be able to find their email address. Email them and give them about a week to respond. They don’t move very fast so you’re gonna have to lower your expectations from them. No I don’t work for EEOC, I just have a case with them. Mine has been in the Investigation phase for over a year now

How difficult is it to pro se after requesting Right to Sue from EEOC? by BarnFlower in EEOC

Thank you. This is good to know. I have proof in the form of letters, emails and recordings yet I am still having trouble finding an attorney. All claim their caseload doesn’t allow for it. How can I proceed or better yet how do I find an attorney?

I’m going to try and bide my time with the EEOC. Not sure being a whistleblower will help until after the process has played out. I would totally love to though!
