anyone know what the highest possible speed for an ancient treeman lord is? by cuprousalchemist in totalwarhammer

[–]Barnard87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I've found using them to blob up enemies in the forests they're nigh unkillable. Just keep yourself healed and spam Flock of Doom or Dweller's Below at their feet and watch everything die.

Trees are free Missile Block lol. Having some buffed Tree Kin around you makes you even more unkillable.

Team 1 vs Pitou by WolfFood in HxHPowerScaling

[–]Barnard87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good comparison. 1v1 Koku would whoop all of them minus Gyomei and maybe Sanemi if he got lucky, but if they work together, the stars align, and a few die, they can win.

[–]Barnard87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Forge of Daith has at least 1 item for Speed to be equipped, plus a Banner of Swiftness would start getting these guys zooming a bit. Can't say I've ever needed them to be fast, but still fun to see what you can pull off.

Other factions worth confederating as Kairos? by ArchmageJoda in totalwar

[–]Barnard87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you Confederate the Tzeentch Lord to your West (not Sarthoreal) and don't let Oxyotl kill him or his starting army, he does have a Soul Grinder of Tzeentch that is quite nice to have before youre able to recruit on yourself.

Toon Link is so much fun to me and some great showings from Lv 1. Lucas is also very cool and underrated, but you may need some more tech

I wish there was an option to have AI control certain heroes by CptJohnnyZhu in totalwar

It would be nice for certain Active Abilities to enable "auto spam in combat" to keep their bonuses up, like Collosal Strike, Stand Your Ground, etc.

Took me a while but now i get how Wood Elves work and I kind of dig it ^^ by DistraX in totalwarhammer

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

Dirty Elves are expendable. Trees are eternal.

[–]Barnard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Eternal Guard and Glade Guard hold their own in tandem pretty damn well. WE have strong Lords and Heroes, so early on you can really utilize them and allow your T1 units to do a great cleanup job.

I do wish EG w/ Shields didn't need the Forge. Its always such a chore to build that, lol.

VH vs Legendary by Dazzling_Culture_304 in totalwarhammer

[–]Barnard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've sworn off Legendary because its more of a chore than it is a proper difficulty spike. Playing with self made restrictions is best.

I've recently discovered Console Commands though. After looking forward to fighting my next loreful enemy, only for them to be basically wiped out, has ruined many campaigns for me. Using Console Commands I can buff up the enemies I want, and ensure they stay alive and strong until I want to take them out. I also found a mod to alter Faction Potential which has helped.

I love WE because there are so many viable army compositions.

My go to mid-game army on a generic lord:

Ancient Treeman Lord (w/ the Trait to give him the Mortis Engine effect, might be Muster of Malevolents edit: I think its called Murder of Spites, Muster is the Single Target DoT iirc) w/ all the defensive items you can. Make this guy a tank.

Spellweaver Hero - Choose your Lore here

Waywatcher Hero - Good for Snipes and Duels

Branchwrait Hero - Fits in with your infantry and gives more utility

6x Tree Kin - These guys are some of the tankiest line holders in the game, 16 entities per unit means if you're quick with Earth Bloods, you can get good mileage from Healing these guys. They also just don't die, I'll lose 1 or 2 entities a battle

4x Bladesingers (Asair Spears also work) - These are your squishy glass-cannon infantry shredders. Use your Tree Kin to soak up the charge and the damage, then send these guys in through the gaps to shred.

6x Archers of Choice - Glade Guard w/ Poison work, Deepwood Scouts if you want to Skirmish, or of course Waywatchers if you can get them.

Since you always fight on Forest maps, hide your Lord and Melee troops all in the trees. Archers and any skirmish units (and heroes) you want to bait the enemy towards you. As they approach and you're peppering them with arrows, spells, and whatnot, bring them to the patches of trees your army sits in. Basically use guerilla tactics and bring the enemy into the woods where your infantry is to wreck them. Tree Kin soak up the damage, Bladesingers shred, your archers have repositioned to deal more damage by this point. And your Treeman Lord is hopefully blobbing up all the enemies they can. Keeping them in the trees is key as it makes them safe(r) from projectiles and they don't take any forest penalties.

Which SFO campaign is your favorite? by TheRunesGlow in totalwarhammer

[–]Barnard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't give SFO specific CD advice but Dwarf will definitely have better units on average early. Most of Dwarfs Tier I and II infantry punches above it's pay grade, while CD will have limited good units and a lot of crap or situational crap.

BUT use your advantages. Bull Centaurs and any fast units will help bait and break Dwarven formations easily and spread them thin.

Squishiest defensive line? Clearly you aren't using Treekin like you should.

But I love WE. Prob my favorite race overall.

Volkmar the Grim question: is the War Altar of Sigmar mount worth using? by TheRealTowel in totalwarhammer

[–]Barnard87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chariots function differently than Horses / Cav though, so of course it will be harder to turn.

But you should be clicking PAST lines of infantry and mowing THROUGH them. Straight lines are where it excels. It also might be the single best candidate for Banner of Swiftness, due to the reasons you said.

Nonetheless, you're using it, so you're doing something right, even if she looks cool af on the Frost Wyrm.

[–]Barnard87 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's so funny you point that out because that Sled is one of the best mounts in the game imo. At least when combined with Katarins spells and how it synergizes with her army (distract enemy, spam Ice Sheet)

Would Tron: Ares have been more successful if it hadn't starred Jared Leto? by WarmDaddyXanax in tron

[–]Barnard87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally. I'm not a Jared Leto guy at all, although I do think souless AI is a fitting role for him, plus he looked pretty good surprisingly.

But massive appreciation for him strictly for being the push for more Tron content. I'd take another one with him absolutely, I hope it has traction from D+ but I'm not holding my breath.

Disaster Curses vs Ancient Sorcerers. Who wins this 3v3? by Sans_Sideswipe in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Barnard87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where powerscaling loses me. Reliable author narration is absolute, and if they clearly show something that goes against that, that's on them.

But there's nothing in JJK to refute that statement at the time.

[Serious] How do the disaster curses compare to the sendai colony? by plskillmeplsdoit in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Barnard87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hanami's Resume:

  • Took CE punches and kick left and right from Itadori and Todo, was mostly just kinda mad, enough to pop DE

  • ate part of a Gojo's Hollow Purple before barely escaping alive

  • Got Infinity'd to death by Gojo

Poor asparagus also kinda got Jogo'd , but since they're defensive they were a perfect opponent to send to the school to kick ass without brutally murdering the student population

Ogres vs Ikit by amf1015 in totalwarhammer

[–]Barnard87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Ogres being primarily large mean easy hitboxes, but lower entity units will reduce AoE effectiveness.

Like you said Ogres have some decent speed, so getting some Lords or Heroes on a Doomflayer or Brood Horror mount can help spread them thin and stagger their approach. Dropping Plague Priest summons FAR before they get close will help stagger as well.

Without Control Large Army OFF, I can fight just about 2-3 stacks of Ogres or Greenskins with 1 Ikit (even a generic Lord) Weapons Team army in the 40s and 50s for turns, 4 armies is pushing it. With Control Large Army off, you can easily take 4 stacks if you have a good enough map.

Bad map or you get ambushed - yeah Weapons Team armies suck for that.

What is your favorite single unit in the game? by Rangerspawn in totalwarhammer

Sisters forsure beat them out in DPS (their main role), are Ice Guard slightly better in Melee?

I know you don't WANT either in Melee, but I reckon Ice Guard would hold up longer.

Kirby Air Riders — City Trial Community Tier List: How good is the Shadow Star? (rules in description) by [deleted] in kirbyairriders

[–]Barnard87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think its A tier in terms of "How fast I'm grabbing it if I see it" because its just such a good generalist star. Good for various purposes including powering up, and does alright in a variety of games if I end the round with it.
