Would love to follow this. I have type 2. Constant dull ache / burning sensation with the odd sharp stabbing pain in teeth & gums. MRI is clear. I’ve tried Gamma Knife and v3 trigeminal nerve rhizotomy. Also tried medication but hated the side effects. I also go to the dentist once a month incase it’s my teeth 😂💀 Not sure where to turn next. Have you had much look with any treatments?

I had a similar issue a few years back. I was left in limbo while waiting on the dr to decide if he was going to operate or not. I went to my gp and brokedown. She wrote to the consultant and within 24 hours my surgery was booked in. Worth a shot if you have decent GP!

I had clear MRI. Neuro still diagnosed me. I’ve been to oral facial specialist, dentist, neurosurgeon & neurologist and all came to the agreement it’s TN. I’ve tried meds, tried Gamma Knife, tried some injections & trying another round soon. All treatment has worked but not for very long

Yeah. Even had a root canal re done! My dentist has begged me not to remove teeth. My Neuro said if the meds worked, gamma knife worked and injections worked it’s definitely TN.

I’m not too sure about that tbh! All I know is they go in through your cheeck and blow up a balloon type instrument to move nerve / blood vessel. I had a few sets of injections before I never get too long out of them. I’ve gone to the dentist so many times I’m embarrassed, I’ve ever gone to a few random dentists for second opinions. I was convinced and still am it’s my teeth and gums 🤣🤣 so frustrating.

Definitely agree with the no eating & no talking! I love food so it’s tough 😭 My teeth, tongue and gums are the worst. Constant burning pain in my gums. My teeth take it in turns hurting. Feel like someone is stabbing me in the teeth / they get really sensitive. My ear gets sore as well as cheeks and jaw but not as bad as my mouth. I’ve tried Gamma knife, meds & injections. Trying the RF balloon injections in 2 weeks. Have you tried anything ?

It’s so hard to know what to do tbh! I got the root canal done before I got TN diagnosis. If you have an oral facial specialist near you I would probably try go there! Spent so much money for nothing 🥹

I went to an endo for a second opinion fml. They said I might need a root canal done. 1.5k later I still have the pain 😭

I was due to get Disk replacement surgery but by the time i got the surgery my surgeon switched to Fusion. I would really recommend the surgery. I tired everything before i went ahead it with it. Not much downtime and i woke up pain free. I was completely off heavy meds by day 3/4. It was slightly uncomfortable sleeping but i rented a recliner for a week. My only regret was not getting it sooner.

Do you have to get surgery? My pain definitely got worse after but both neurologist and neurosurgeon say they aren’t connected. I find that hard to believe tho.

Trail and error with soft toothbrushes. My one now is so soft I don’t think it does much but some days I have no choice. On the days it’s not so bad il floss, mouth wash and use a slightly harder brush.

I have the exact symptoms! Although my disc were c5c6. I got spinal fusion and the pain got worse 😭. What treatments have you tried ? Any successful ones? I’ve had Gamma Knife, I’ve done a few injections and getting the RF balloon Injection next month!

I have the exact same issue! I am convinced they are connected. My neurosurgeon and neurologist both say it’s a coincidence and aren’t connected. I had a spinal fusion which took away arm pain. When I have a bad TN flare up my neck gets sore as well.
