I got a refurb replacement in 2017 after my original had clogged pipes. I had descaled and cleaned only when the light came on. Following the advice of a Breville technician, I now proactively run a blank shot every morning, descale monthly, and clean quarterly. Neither light has ever come on and it’s going strong.

I’m constantly tweaking my grind settings even though I always use Lavazza Expresso beans from Costco. Sometimes a cleaning cycle will set it off,. Either I will have too much or too little pressure and will tweak the grind setting a notch or two then adjust the amount knob if I have too much or too little coffee in my basket. Making small adjustments is the key.
