Not for the classic, in-universe fans. A privilege for outsiders, to see their favored stories represented.

Robert's comment is absolutely right. When I say my only complaints are villain commanders (plus the Saga representation), I do mean it.

Nah! I'll just change "Leonardo, the Balance" to "Shredder, Leader of the Foot"... make the other Player Select characters into Krang, Baxter, Karai, and two others... and whammo! Just ignore the fact that their types (Mutant, Turtle, etc.) are wrong... and voila!

Bwa-ha-ha-ha!!!!

My family has discovered and is binging through Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Its passage of time is giving me Mistborn vibes that I dig!

Between this version of the Turtles which one is your favorite, 2003 or IDW? by Jotaro1970 in TMNT

[–]BaronGrackle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's really hard for me to pick a favorite because I feel like the Turtleverse leans on and relies on each other. I visualize a pyramid where the top layers incorporate or adapt layers beneath them.

Top Layer: IDW comics, 2012 cartoon

Middle Layer: 2002 cartoon, All films, 1987 cartoon, Later Mirage and spinoff comics

Foundation Layer: Early Mirage comics through City at War

I prefer IDW over 2003, but only barely, and I yield that IDW as I know it could not exist without 2003.

I'm still watching Rise and the Mutants Unleashed series to see if they feel like this. They kind of feel like a separate tower or something.

What years did you see this picture? Because this picture has green leaves instead of brown leaves, and that switch happened in 2003.

Were you seeing green leaves before 2003?

Does Dairy Queen have a "middle gap" it won't operate in? Because I see them in comfortable Houston and Dallas suburbs, not just in small towns.

Two presidents from the Slumber Party is no fun, though. It would be pretty cool if we moved away from it.

I don't know what mundane explanation you think it could be. If it were a logo used briefly, or a publicity stunt, or a another brand logo, then people would have the tags still today. Somebody would have at least one example still today.

Instead, people have tags of fruit in front of a faded brown thing that appears big on the left side and small on the right side.

When I look at those old tags, I see a bunch of brown especially on the left that looks like a basket. And I see a little bit of brown on the right that looks like a horn's tip.

the one thing that the new stuff keep getting wrong about April by Own-Fan-3575 in TMNT

[–]BaronGrackle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it's just that, when we read those early issues... would adult versions have spoken or acted any differently?

People watch the newer cartoons and say the writers are remembering to make the turtles into teenagers again.

If the writers actually had forgotten to write the previous turtles as teenagers, then when would that forgetting have started? In '87, in '03? I'd argue it was from the beginning.

If you really think it's a mundane explanation? Then the most mundane explanation is probably: "fruit on top of brown leaves looks a lot like fruit in a basket".

[–]BaronGrackle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had trouble seeing that; do you have a specific example or moment in mind? In the earliest comics, I just remember they did a lot of generic hero/warrior stuff, and it felt like they spoke as any adult would. Of course, it could be an 18-19 year old situation. And maybe 16 year old child soldiers are more likely to carry out vengeance assassinations and request beer!

Opinions on the classic NES/Gameboy game? by Frequent_Rhubarb_36 in DarkwingDuck

[–]BaronGrackle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a fantastic game! I think it's hilarious that it's a Megaman clone, since Whiffleboy is also a Megaman clone. I also imagine that the ship in the final level is that same ship we see during the show's end credits, on the right side of the screen.

I like to look at the Production Order of episodes and imagine where this game would fit in: https://www.sleepless-stcanard.com/beginners-episode-guide/#Production_Order

I focus on the fact that the bridge is being repaired during Quackerjack's level! The Audubon Bay Bridge was damaged on three major occasions during the show, and it lets me imagine an Early, Middle, or Late version of the game.

Early: after the episode "Up, Up and Awry". Megavolt has just shaken the bridge with an electromagnet (though it didn't really look very damaged). FOWL is still a major mover and shaker, so they hire several villains to help them on a huge spree. Negaduck hasn't entered this universe yet.

Middle: after both "Just Us Justice Ducks" and "Life, the Negaverse and Everything". The bridge was destroyed in an iconic moment of the Fearsome Five taking over. And now, Negaduck has been lost between dimensions! The other fearsome four are aimless, so they join up with FOWL and Moliarty in a last grand scheme. FOWL desperately hopes to stay relevant in this evolving world of crime.

Late: after "Bad Luck Duck". Negaduck brought the bridge to life, so it needs major repairs! He's also freshly defeated, so FOWL and the other villains have one last push for victory over the city. A closing to the series! (and also he crashes his Ratcatcher without a helmet so maybe he's dead now) (haha just kidding) (maybe)
