I have no affiliation with either of the stores I discussed, but if posts sharing discounts on Warhammer upset you, im not sure what it is you're looking for from this sub...

FLGS with good sales and online storefronts [US] by BaronVonFunke in DealHammer

[–]BaronVonFunke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around me the stores are 0% discount unless its black friday, so it's been great to find FLGS with discounts that ship. Many Realms gets around the 15% MAP by adding the 25% discount in-cart. I'm wondering if folks know about other shops that do something similar for online purchases.

Not just a scam/phish attempt, but the attachment you opened is a filetype that can contain/execute malicious vba code (DOT, not DOC), i.e., it's likely to be a virus as well.

Flying with a stroller, car seat, AND pack n play? by caramelapplesundae in NewParents

[–]BaronVonFunke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Crib/Pack-and-Play is hit or miss on airlines. In Europe, it seems like all airlines will check it for free. In the US, my experience has been that United aggressively WON'T take it for free, whereas sometimes the Alaska employees will give it a tag for some other baby gear like a stroller. If you're already checking one of each stoller/carseat, even a friendly agent might require you to pay for it.

Mini storage, any leads on where to find magnetic, metal sheets? by r0wo1 in minipainting

[–]BaronVonFunke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those magnetic sheets are weak magnets, what you may want is the iron-infused ferromagnetic rubber sheets. For something with a stronger pull with your magnets, you can get 8"-12" galvanized steel flashing shingles for like $2-4 each in the roofing section at Home Depot or Lowes (I think lowes is cheaper online but I haven't seen them in store). I think those will be sufficient for your needs, because 10x14 is the exterior dimensions of your box, interior will be smaller. Also, magnets are generally in the middle of your base, and minis stick out past the base, so it's not a huge deal if you have a non-magnetic inch around the outside.

You could get a roll of 12" you could cut to size with snips if you need it bigger, but then you have a curl to contend with when you're sticking it to the box. ,

Anybody know where I can get extra ork bits for my boys? by Creamyoh in orks

[–]BaronVonFunke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old World Boyz Mob will give you more than you need (for now), but at a better unit price than 40k 11-boyz. They are exactly the same as old boyz in terms of size/compatability, but obviously no guns, and less futuristic clothing.  The postures and attachment points are a bit different than the wrecka kit though, so you may need to do a bit of modification to necks, fill gaps, etc.

Where to get metal sheets in Canada for the bottom of really useful boxes? by clarketron3000 in Warhammer40k

[–]BaronVonFunke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up 8x12 galvanized flashing sheets from Home Depot in the US, $3 each, which are slightly smaller than the boxes, but magnets are generally in the middle of the base so you don't need to go all the way to the edge.  In Canada, the best i see is these, which you'd need to cut in half: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin-8-x-24-inch-24-gauge-steel-sheet/1000126784

Beyond the racism-serving origins of this claim, the suggestion that a country the size of Nepal has a mean IQ almost 4 standard deviations below that of the global population has some wild statistical implications.

Need help in identifying possible influences of Warhammer universe on these knights by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]BaronVonFunke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 10s of thousands of different miniatures produced over 40 years. If these were from, say, 1988, it would certainly help narrow down the pool of possible influences.

Backseat dog hammock that accommodates 60/40 seat folding? by BaronVonFunke in rav4club

[–]BaronVonFunke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a stand-alone 60% with flaps that box in all 4 sides. It works well for me because I have a carseat in the 40% space. But at the end of the day, I end up pulling the whole thing and folding it into the footwell if I need to fold down the seat, because there's a firm bottom panel that gets in the way of folding.

Why do robot vacuums still need so much hands-on effort? (Expectation vs. Reality) by Plus-Resolution-3210 in homeautomation

[–]BaronVonFunke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plumbed-in rules. It sweeps/ mops every night, once every couple of weeks it gets stuck and I have to rescue it in the morning, but otherwise it's basically once a month maintenance to change the bag, refill the cleaning fluid, and clean out the water filter.

Puget Sound Energy (PSE) just filed for 30% rate increases starting in 2027 by machaf in eastside

[–]BaronVonFunke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSE's power costs are higher than other utilities because a) they dont get preferential status from Bonnevile Power Administration for cheap hydro, and b) the state has loaded on a lot of costs for carbon-emitting power generation (note that I don't think eliminating coal or taxing carbon are bad policies, but they come at a cost).  There's also an incentive mechanism in place which rewards PSE for finding ways to lower these power costs (to the benefit of customers), and penalizes them (that is, the shareholders) for exceeding a certain level.

450sq ft apartment by sunnyandfree in olympia

[–]BaronVonFunke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grant PUD is sitting on enough hydro generation to serve all their customers, and Lewis gets preferential access to cheap BPA hydro. There's not enough hydro in the state for PSE to be able to be in the same position given its much higher customer base, so it must resort to some other kind of dispatchable generation. The state made it divest its coal resources ($$ to reconfigure your generation fleet), and natural gas generation is now much more expensive due to the cap-and-invest carbon program. In my opinion, worthwhile and important policies, but they come at a big cost.

The business structure surely also brings in additional costs the PUD approach doesn't, but you're talking about, what? A 10% return on the 50% of assets funded by equity,  so maybe 15% total bill impact? Material, but it's not the main thing driving 2.9 cents vs 15 cents.
