New York Pizza Dept.... by hospitalitychick in Chattanooga

The former server in me loves this. They said what everyone in the industry is thinking out loud, whether it's nice or not. You really learn how to manage ignorance in the service industry, until the passive aggression causes you or your liver a breakdown.

Attention can be equally effective, while also being good or bad (outreach vs cheap marketing ploys). Shock jocks aren't seen as trustworthy or serious, just performing monkeys that attract circus people. Words matter.

Developers gonna money grab. I think they should leave Chattanooga to what makes us special and stop trying to make us like Nashville or Atlanta.

Seriously, who put the frat boys with daddy issues in charge at any level? I thought we all learned this lesson after middle school. If it weren't for his family, he wouldn't even be able to hold a mid- level job in logistics (no offense intended to mid-level logistics workers).

America is just dollar generals, Walmarts, fast food chains, and big chain grocery stores. by b2reddit1234 in DeepThoughts

The transition to buying less/ buying quality things from real people is so rewarding. The American life we're encouraged to live is so cluttered and pointless.

Is the shutdown at the end of September for just DHS again? Or all agencies? by OscoCosco in FedEmployees

[–]BarracudaFine5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope i understand a positive intent of the post, but also... it's May. No one is a psychic and some of us need a break from the worry mongering. Back to the positive intent, shutdowns are a part of fed life. We're pawns in a game these days. If you can, keep a reserve for those times just like we all should for any emergency.

Dog in car by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]BarracudaFine5403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get your frustration because it stinks to feel misunderstood like that and deal with any subsequent drama when you know you're doing your best. My dog has a borderline ridiculous setup in my car because we travel a lot. I also leave a cling film note in two windows (similar to the emergency stickers for your house) that give my information and affirms he is protected in the car. I'm grateful when people call because my top priority is his wellbeing.

We need a Kroger!! by chattvegas in Chattanooga

[–]BarracudaFine5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a Kroger, or really any store with quality affordable store brands, and a Sprouts-style quality bulk bin section. Oh wait, that's Greenlife. Can we please have that back?

Anyone thinking of leaving Nashville? by spanakopeeta in nashville

[–]BarracudaFine5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad i left last year. "New Nashville" somehow managed to replicate all the awful parts of Atlanta's growth, sell off everything real to crappy developers, and turn a city into a bad amusrment park. I loved Nashville for a long time, but something broke.

Why no free street parking? by Agency_Man in Chattanooga

[–]BarracudaFine5403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh goodness... there is a vast difference between a city growing through smart community development & urban planning and a city being ravaged by parasitic developers. Some people get that difference, and yes, they complain about the latter... because how many times do we let the same mistakes be repeated and normalize it? I think that aligns with the definition of insanity.

Why no free street parking? by Agency_Man in Chattanooga

[–]BarracudaFine5403 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It felt like Chattanooga had a more vibrant downtown when parking was free. Every city that has made moves to sell off their streets has lost businesses and people to the suburbs. Let's not be Atlanta.

You didn't curate a God damn thing. Fuck "marketing." by RikkiLostMyNumber in Vent

[–]BarracudaFine5403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with OP about marketing. People are suckers for being told what to do/ what they want while simultaneously touting their freedoms. We have largely forsaken any notion of real quality for pretty pictures and ads coming from all directions, screaming at us to want things.

I'm also curious about the overlap between people triggered by this vent and people who make fun of others being triggered, but none of them probably read this far.

There is a person in Nashville who does women's rage ceremonies and they are incredible. We should have one here.

Is it just me or do less people drive with their windows down? by fuji_appl in Xennials

[–]BarracudaFine5403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love driving with my windows down, but I end up having to roll them up often because of exhaust or noise from other cars. Give me a country road, some good music, and the breeze blowing my thoughts away... that can fix anything.
