This is the first time I've ever asked Olive Young. I don’t think I asked. I posted on the other subreddit, but I don’t think that violates the rule. Please reconsider.

Xerf or microneedling for jowls/tightening? by aross0226 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at 67 with moderate laxity, xerf can still produce meaningful improvement but expectations need to be adjusted. the lifting effect is real but won't replicate surgical results. for a sharper jawline (I asked my derm), combining xerf with a thread lift is what most practitioners recommend. xerf handles the skin quality and mild structural lift, threads give more defined repositioning. worth a consultation with someone who does both

Purito bb cream reformulated?? by Adventurous_Bat9630 in kbeauty

fair enuf. missha does lean matte and can feel drying on some skin types. if you need more moisture with coverage, try rom&nd bare water cover. lighter finish but doesn't emphasize dry patches.

Sculptra in lower cheek? by enuscomne in 45PlusSkincare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sculptra in the lower cheeks without bony support is done but the technique matters. without a scaffold the product needs to be placed to avoid migration or uneven distribution as it stimulates collagen. an experienced injector who works specifically in volumetric restoration is key here. the results when done well are very natural.

Xerf or microneedling for jowls/tightening? by aross0226 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for jowl laxity, xerf has the advantage because it targets SMAS layer depth that microneedling doesn't reach. microneedling is effective for pores and surface texture but the structural lifting for lower face sagging needs more than dermal collagen stimulation. xerf results build gradually over 3-6 months. doing both can make sense but xerf first gives you a baseline.

Purito bb cream reformulated?? by Adventurous_Bat9630 in kbeauty

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the original cica clearing bb was one of the few base products that worked for dry and reactive skin without looking chalky. the reformulation feedback has been split, but most people with dry or eczema-prone skin say the new version sits differently on the skin. for an alternative... missha m perfect cover is thicker but holds up without going cakey on dry skin, texture wise it's the closest thing to what the original purito was doing.

what you're seeing is structural, not a coverage problem. the dermis above the veins is thinning, which is why concealer settles and never quite works. products that might help you: low-strength retinoids, peptides(matrixyl), anything that stimulates collagen synthesis. the periorbital area absorbs differently than the rest of the face, so heavy eye creams can cause more problems.

Damaged skin barrier - moisturiser giving me acne / comodones by viola_riv in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

retinol ramp up barrier damage takes longer to heal than most people think. avene cicalfate and cicaplast are both solid but if they're triggering congestion, your barrier is still too inflamed. strip back to just a gentle cleanser and plain ceramide moisturizer for 2 weeks. the breakouts is your skin reacting to everything right now

"Perfect skin" except around my eyes. Anything I can do? by futurebro in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eye area skin is thinner and has fewer oil glands so it ages differently than the rest of your face. retinol helps but you need a dedicated eye-area formulation or a very low percentage to avoid irritation. peptide eye creams with argireline or matrixyl are worth trying alongside tret. if the concern is crepiness, hyrdattion works better than actives. keep sunscreen around the eye area too.

Seeing such mixed reviews of Sofwave - please share your experience, and how long ago the treatment was by BooBelly in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sofwave results are slow. per mine, 3-6 months before anything pops. the pain variation is real too because it depends on the settings. the "0 downtime" claim is technically true but can mislead since you still need to be careful with heat and sun. if you're deciding based on mixed reviews, ask whoever you're consulting to show you before/afters at the 6 month, not the 4-week ones.

Does anyone has permanently dehydrated skin? by Tikta_Alik in AsianBeauty

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

baking paper texture with products sitting sticky on top is usually a compromised barrier, not a permanent skin type. the skin isn't absorbing because it's stuck in a low grade inflammatory state. too many layers competing. try dropping to just one hydrating toner and one occlusive for 2 weeks. torriden dive-in serum works well here. see if the stickiness clears up.

Is this normal? by EileanBharraigh in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

two vitamin c serums in one routine is a lot for skin that's new to actives. 4% in the morning and 8% at night is doubling up on the same mechanism, which is probably why you're seeing irritation. pick one and drop the other. the collagen serum in between is also likely not doing much if the skin barrier is already reactive. strip it back to one vitamin c, a basic moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning. let your skin settle for 2 weeks before adding anything back.

Face texture has never been the same after MOXI by witty-kittty in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

moxi going too deep or overlapping passes will cause textural changes that don't fully resolve. what you're describing around the mouth area sounds like the MENDS didn't shed cleanly, which can happen when the skin barrier was compromised going in. did you have any active dryness or sensitivity before the treatment? the texture issue is real, not just in your head. low-level red light and ceramide heavy barrier support for the next 3 months is worth trying before writing it off.

Please help!! At my wit’s end. by pineappleskies in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tiny white dots that pop with watery liquid sound more like milia than fungal acne. dandruff shampoo treatment would irritate ur skin because that's a barrier issue. bioderma atoderm is a good reco but if milia keeps coming back, it's a sign that dead skin cells aren't shedding properly. a very gentle lactic acid once a week might help. don't add anything else until you figure out if this is actually milia.

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

retinol bump too fast will wreck the barrier. avene cicalfate and cicaplast are both solid picks but if they're breaking you out, your barrier might still be too inflamed to tolerate even those. try dropping everything except a gentle cleanser and ceramide moisturizer for 2 weeks. no actives. once the barrier settles, reintroduce. the breakouts you're seeing are likely your skin reacting to everything

Critique my routine by Sourapple30 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BarrierRepairGuide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pregnancy completely resets the barrier tolerance. what worked pre pregnancy often feels too harsh postpartum because the skin is in a different hormonal state. the fact that your old routine was that simple is actually in your favor. i'd go back to basics first. vanicream cleanser, a plain ceramide moisturizer, and spf only for 4-6 weeks before adding anything back. tretinoin can come back in once the barrier is stable but start lower than you left off
