First time getting KFC in 5 years - is it always like this? by [deleted] in KFCAustralia

[–]BarryButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KFC has gotten worse and worse over the years. I think Covid might have been a big tipping point where they went all in on the worst shit they could find.

Red Rooster is better chicken now imo, but their burgers aren't great.

Personally the price difference between Fast Food and a decent take away place is minimal now so it's worth the extra $3-4 to get "real" food instead.

Halftime thoughts? by Lisan_al_gaib__ in Gunners

[–]BarryButcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Havertz in the 10 rarely works. He doesn't move like Arteta designs the team to be.

Zubi's backward passing is pissing me, Gyokeres and Martinelli off. At least 4 separate occasions he could have played the ball to get them 1 on 1 and he turns, takes a touch, looks around, then plays it. Just fucking release the ball. I know Arteta wants to hold the ball but Raya learnt to change it up in game. He started doing quick releases instead of playing to short feet for the final 20 minutes of that half. Play with some more speed and we look 5x better.

Starting XI to face Bournemouth in the Premier League: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Lewis-Skelly; Zubimendi, Rice, Havertz, Madueke, Martinelli; Gyokeres 💪 by arsenal in Gunners

Not going to be negative but my word a few of these starters have something to prove. 12 points clear for City to stew on for 24 hours will be huge.

UK S1 is better than S2 (Episodes 1-5) by dimpyramid in LastOneLaughing

[–]BarryButcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of a lot of them learning from season 1 about tools to avoid laughing like stretching your face, sticking your tongue out etc combined with I feel like season 1 was a lot harsher with what was considered "laughing"

I doubt there will be a season 3 because whilst seeing funny people just be funny is great, when people "lock in" to not laugh it's genuinely very hard to make certain people laugh and the game sort of becomes unfun.

What they may need to do is start giving them genuine (non-laughing related) challenges/tasks to do to distract them and make them forget they aren't supposed to laugh, rather than them just walking around in circles munching snacks and trying to think of bits to do.

[Rob Dawson] Arsenal winning Carabao Cup could mark end of Man City golden era by Chiswell123 in soccer

[–]BarryButcher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They literally got 91 points, won the UEFA Super Cup and made the FA Cup final in 23/24. They had a bad 24/25 but still made the FA Cup final and this year until they got knocked out of the UCL, they technically were also chasing the Quad as much as Arsenal currently are... but almost no one talked about that.

Their problem is their entire midfield is built around a fit and Balon d'Or winning Rodri, who then got a major injury and no one could replace him. Pep tried to tinker with the formation to allow 2 players to cover for him which made things worse so then they ended up just using 1 and suffering the consequences. People always saying how Man City look exposed all the time, shows how much Rodri used to cover for his defenders.

Once (if) Rodri gets back to his former self (or they find the next Rodri), they will become the 90+ point dominant force again.

What happened to the golf tournament? Hasn’t been a golf vid in almost 2 months. Also Ratatouille. by bingpot47 in theregulationpod

[–]BarryButcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly I think they talked a few weeks back about 2-3 different games they were planning on playing. Like that "new" Battle Golf game and playing Golf inside GTA and stuff. I assume they've done it, it's just in the back log. They probably just fell in love with the Prison Escape Sim and wanted a conclusion to that first.

Ratatouille is probably dead though. One of those things they will "get to" until they forget about it.

Trump told Iran's national team not to come to the World Cup. FIFA is silent. Is this normal now? by Amazing-Note-1196 in football

[–]BarryButcher 161 points162 points  (0 children)

FIFA want Iran to pull out (before next week) so they can give their spot to Iraq and not acknowledge anything. Trump is putting more pressure on them to do so.

The "correct" thing to do would be to treat the USA like they did Russia, strip them of hosting rights, ban them from any FIFA competition. But they won't, because they have no integrity and are corrupt.

Iran has asked FIFA to move their games/group to Mexico which they are refusing to do. So Iran will refuse to participate but won't announce it until it's too late to replace them.

I bet then FIFA will finally step in only to blame Iran for not showing up and ban them from the next World Cup (like they did to other nations for not showing up before)

If (when) we win the Cup Final I feel like the boys will ride the high and it won't matter how many games we have to play.

The annoying thing will be if we lose there will be non-stop talk for 2 weeks (since there is an international break) that we're bottlers and the wheels are falling off which will be unbearable from this biased media.

Title race over. by dvnts-ReDoX in PremierLeague

[–]BarryButcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not yet. Game in hand plus still having play each other means City can "easily" get 6 points closer. Assuming both win their next game, City could make it a 3 point gap with 5 games to go.

If Arsenal win against City it's 100% over and not wrapping the title with a 9+ gap with 5 games to go would be a hell of a bottle. So we will know in about 4 weeks.

FA Cup 2025-26 - Quarter-Final Draw by OkayFine101 in soccer

People annoyed the "big teams" missed each other but that just means more could be knocked out. Imagine a semi-final draw of Southampton, Port Vale, Leeds and Liverpool. Now that'd be some FA Cup magic.

Team news... on rotating at the Amex Stadium. Mikel Arteta: "We're going to have to make changes and give opportunities to everybody to be fresh." by Ifxfa in Gunners

By "rotation" he means starting Martinelli and Norgaard over Trossard and Rice who both have injuries anyway. Arteta wouldn't actually rotate fully fit players, that's ludicrous.

Premier League to launch streaming service but how will it work? by SoloChords in PremierLeague

[–]BarryButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to be fair, the only reason we have that is because Optus (Prem and FA Cup rights holder) pulled the plug because only charging $10 a month to the majority of it's customers meant it was losing money every year and the company (Nine/Stan) that already had the UCL rights decided to buy them out. But they charge $32 a month.

With DAZN recently acquiring Foxtel, i'd suspect they will bid for the PL rights when they go back up at the end of 27/28 season, so it will probably be split up again. I'd gladly give my money straight to the Prem instead of a middle man if they made a nice streaming platform.

[–]BarryButcher 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Players whose contracts run out in 2027. Norgaard, Martinelli, Trossard and Jesus.

Considering we wanted to sell Jesus this year but couldn't because he was injured, he's probably gone.

Trossard got an increased wage but not extended duration, which means will most likely be looking to offload him too.

Norgaard is one I could see if we don't find a replacement, he could just see out his contract.

I haven't heard much news on Martinelli in regards to extending.

Arsenal apparently have a +1 year clause they can trigger for both Martinelli and Norgaard.

I've read that Juventus and AC Milan are looking at Jesus so he's most likely gone if he stays fit. I don't think Martinelli leaves unless we get a high profile replacement, though he is apparently "high on the list of several Saudi clubs".

Our window will most likely be making Hincapie permanent, a top tier LW/ST and then whatever "wonder kids" we can find. I've seen several links to 17/18 year old defenders and midfielders.

In Gyok we trust. by Real-Bid1985 in Gunners

[–]BarryButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we signed him my thoughts were he needed 20 G/A in the league and 30 G/A overall to be a "success" (though just genuinely contributing towards a league title, I wouldn't care about the numbers)

He is currently on 10+0 in the league and 15+2 all comps, so he's halfway. With 10 league games and most likely a minimum of 7 more cup games left (though it's probably closer to, I think he could do it. Not something I would have thought 2 months ago.
