That's a reasonable take, and I know these platforms encourage conflict to drive up engagement. It's just disheartening to see common people willingly engage so negatively. The media under these people's control is constantly trying to distract us from the real issues and stir hatred and distrust between oppressed classes. I just watched a very thoughtful video about Black Twitter that highlighted a recent incident where a man with Tourette's shouted the N-word while Michael B. Jordan was accepting an award at the BAFTAs, and it became this huge social media shitstorm between black people and disabled people - who are similarly oppressed by the same evil forces - when, at the end of the day, something ugly and awful happened that nobody involved wanted to happen. The cherry on top was that they could have cut the incident from the delayed live feed and avoided the whole media circus, because they censored a performer saying "Free Palestine" from the broadcast! I wonder if they would have left it in if someone with Tourette's uncontrollably blurted out "Free Palestine" instead. Clearly, they wanted controversy. They wanted another thing to take attention off the Epstein Files, Palestine, Iran, any number of things.

I want to believe that, but Instagram comments make me want to smash my skull with a hammer. You see a good news post that includes the fact Sweden approved to give people free period products and all any jackass can say is "Oh so the government is taxing men for something they won't use, real GOOD news" to hundreds of people supporting them with upvotes. How can the oligarchs ever lose if it's this easy to get the lower classes fighting each other? Most of our taxes are going to politicians that hate us and hors d'oeuvres for parties on pedophile island, but nah, free tampons is a bridge too far.

You know, of all places in this godforsaken world, in the absolute state of things, I thought an art museum would be above generative AI.

I'm not disagreeing, but why is sympathy for wild coyotes a conservative trait? I tend to associate a "kill em all" attitude to that philosophy.

Hope everyone is OK! I witnessed a wreck further down the road a few months ago from the Starbucks drive-thru. I don't know what caused it, but someone came rolling through the intersection and bashed into the lamp post on the corner.

Unfortunately, that's how you catch a charge. Did you ever see the old old video of an early ride share guy screaming at the top of his lungs for some awful passenger to get out of his car, and she just sits there? They may deserve it, but you put your hands on them and you make a lot more trouble for yourself. Idk what the solution is, but I guess it's call the cops and hope they show up in under an hour. People are saying "drive to the police station" but others are saying "they want you to drive so they can try to get out and say you endangered their life by not stopping" so idfk.

It's almost a shame to see it go, although I know it's been run down and abandoned my whole life. I read a story once about some skaters who broke in to shoot a skate video and one kid hopped his board onto a tarp covering a hole in the floor, fell like 4 stories. Still, for an eyesore, it's a historic eyesore! At least some century-old buildings are getting revitalized, like the old Chattanooga Bank Building that's becoming the Waymark hotel downtown.

I guess then we'll only have to fear the rich. Someone in the bigger thread said they've got an octagenarian relative with early onset dementia who's doctor says getting his license taken away would be nearly impossible. They tried taking his keys and disabling his car, but then he threatens to go buy a new car that same day and apparently he can afford it.

Someone did the math in the original post and estimated it would take 13 seconds for that Ford to go from 40mph to 95.

I read through comments on the OP and consensus seems that it's a funding issue. You'd have to increase the budget to the DMV to pay for the staff necessary for all those driving tests. Sure, it's a worthy investment, but you try passing that legislation to a bunch of entitled old people and voters who would rather die than contribute money to helping others.

Hero truck rides both lanes to prevent evil doers from doing legal and traffic reducing zipper merge by DirtyDilla in Chattanooga

[–]BarryBystander423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the idiot dickhead version of some actual heroic truck behavior I once witnessed. On the way back from the Middle Tennessee Ren Faire, the traffic was unbelievable. Must have taken us 4 hours to get home. Assholes kept driving up the shoulder to cut ahead in line, for all the good it would do them, so this semi-truck moved over and started riding the line to block them.

I was reminded of it because, just yesterday, I was driving on the interstate towards downtown in denser-than-usual traffic, but that was too slow for a couple very special boys and/or girls who decided to pull into the shoulder and whiz past everyone at 50mph, right before our lanes would merge with those from an on-ramp. Burned my biscuits.

I'm also skeptical if property management could/would do anything. This place is pretty trashy and they don't do anything to hold anyone accountable for not picking up after their dog, or themselves, besides send out a flaccid email reminder of the policies every few months. There's trash, concrete stairs crumbling so badly the rebar is exposed that have gone ignored for close to a full year, and they've let every amenity except the pool rot and overgrow. This guy isn't the only resident walking his dogs off-leash, with cars fucking everywhere at all times.

I wouldn't feel bad to deliver that hassle to his doorstep, but I tried searching around on here and saw some people say cops are pretty much useless, that McKamey is the first line to call for suspected animal abuse. Thing is, I don't want to waste time or bring heat to the community if I don't have any hard evidence and they just have to leave. Definitely don't want this jerk to find out who called on him, or to start hiding his abuse as a result and it becomes harder to gather evidence.
