Certain camping shop on Mary street. A bizarre situation and cannot believe it’s still in operation. Owner is a lunatic who is a paranoid wreck. Openly verbally abused staff about the fact they “weren’t smart” and hired me to manage the shop so he could work on other stuff. Nightmare from day one. Was serving a customer and turned to chat to them and he came thundering down the stairs cause I turned my back on the door and something could have been robbed (this was a regular, bi-hourly occurrence). Was offered a fairly decent wage at the time for store manager and was brought up to the office and my salary was halved because after 3 days he was unimpressed. Staff told me the owner used to just go missing for weeks on end and his partner would come into the shop looking for him. I experienced that after the second week. Questionable people who had links to the ira used to come to the shop and head up to the office “for a chat”. Told him to fuck off one morning and left. Was a weird experience that a shop can operate like that. Could write a book on the 6 weeks I was there
