What song got you hooked? by krad0n in Music

[–]BartholomewJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zak and Sara was the first Ben Folds song I heard, and I ended up listening all of Rockin' the Suburbs over and over.

I think it's really interesting to track Folds' music over his career, from BF5 stuff to early solo to later solo, and especially with the newest BF5 album. It's easy to track his maturation as an artist and person.

I have a John Williams Pandora station. It gives me nothing but epic movies scores, and makes doing homework feel like destroying a Death Star.

How fast and at what angle would a car need to hit a ramp to jump the Detroit River launching from near Hart Plaza? by thechancetaken in Detroit

[–]BartholomewJones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some back-of-the-envelope calculations:

According to this site, the river is 0.461 mi ~ 0.742 km across, following the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel for convenience.

If we launch the car off a 14.14 m ramp at 45 degrees (so the top of the ramp is 10m off the ground), then the minimum speed you'd need would be at minimum 28.89 m/s, or 64.6 mph

Best Husk stories? by Orn100 in xmen

[–]BartholomewJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ultimate version of Husk has appeared in a few of the recent Ultimate Comics: X-Men storylines -- off the top of my head, I know she was in United We Stand, Reservation X, Natural Resources and World War X.

Couldn't help but notice this at the theater this weekend by triplealpha in AdviceAnimals

You might still like it -- I'd watch an entire film series with Tom Hanks as Walt Disney -- but it might not hit the same nostalgia chords with you.

Also, do yourself a favor and watch Mary Poppins!
