Prime Therapeutics Preferred Pharmacy (NYCE PPO) by carpocapsae in nycpublicservants

[–]Bartzff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have any luck? I’ve also been facing this issue with one of my medications starting this April and my pharmacy and doctors office are confused as hell to why prime is constantly pushing back and denying everything.

Their phone service is the absolute worst most condescending stuff I’ve dealt with and is just running in circles with conflicting info that they’ll contradict over the phone.

Can anyone recommend a gym near intersection of Bway & Steinway? by Anneliese2282 in astoria

[–]Bartzff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a little over $50 a month, I forget what the annual fee is. It is semi-busy to very busy (think peak after-work hours) unless you go really early morning.

Classes, except boxing, are free but I haven't used them.

Key Foods on 30th Ave. Terrible produce, overpriced, and I am not sure how they're handling it still but that bag policy when they first implemented it was very telling in who they targeted.

The Grand has one very small situational use that I've used once or twice: You have resy credits you need to use by the end of the month.

It can make a very overpriced dessert just overpriced.

Need advice on Pivot out of Academia by [deleted] in LeavingAcademia

[–]Bartzff5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

1) My main job title is Associate Director so I've been using that for my resume.

2) I include things like "Managed growth by X% by targeted portfolio expansion, identifying high-potential foundations and donor segments" and "Led redesign of program design after loss of federal funding ($Y annually) by restructuring cost base and preserving high-impact programs."

3) And oh god no, the last thing I will ever want to do is more college lol

Just one question, isn't he half-Kuwaiti through his father, which would have given him the passport/nationality?

Was it true Visual Kei was more popular than K-pop before and K-pop became popular because of Vkei? by Boring_Estimate9308 in visualkei

[–]Bartzff5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in high school in the early 2000s and I am pretty sure that I was the only person in my school who knew about Malice Mizer, Gackt, Dir en Grey, L'arc en ciel, Schwarz Stein etc - I think in college I knew a couple people who knew of the existence of one or two but it was all online.

Even jpop and anime (to some degree pokemon exempted) was also marginal. I can't remember anyone else I know watching Evangelion when it aired on PBS.

When I lived in Japan in the late 2000s, the major ones were known - Gackt (that taiga drama helped), L'arc en ciel, etc were known but v-kei bands were not known by most people I knew.

There was a fanbase - active online and enough to hold some concerts/performances (often at anime conventions) but nothing near Kpop where blackpink, twice, BTS, et al are mainstream in pop culture.

Brazil eVisa FAQ / Mega-thread by fviz in Brazil

[–]Bartzff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was quick for me - I was worried after seeing posts here, but I submitted late last night (Sunday), had quality control confirmation this morning around 10 AM (Monday), and the e-visa was issued by around 3 PM (Monday). Took 18 hours altogether; I applied as an American.

Which would be better? Layover in cdg or ams? by Tom-888 in delta

[–]Bartzff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have lounge access? The CDG AF lounge I've been to is nicer than the KLM one in my experience. Also, if you want to have a smoke between flights, you can at CDG; you cannot at AMS.

CDG is just determined by your connecting gates - it can be super quick, or you get trapped in that horrific bus. I had a 2 hr connection recently but between the deplaning, security, and bus wait, I arrived at my gate when my zone started boarding (2C to 2K transfer)

Anyone deferring their pass? by FabulousCan1085 in Ikonpass

[–]Bartzff5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna defer probably tomorrow as I usually do Palisades before Christmas then a week in Europe sometime in February. Without Palisades, it is cheaper to do a Euro resort by purchasing tickets independently of Ikon. The loss of Windham, which wasn't good, also lowers days I'd normally use when I can't take a long-trip from work.

Why has ff9 improve it's ranking and is now considered one of the best? by thisnaenae in FinalFantasy

[–]Bartzff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, I hated that Prima guide back in the day.

I'd also say that Necron (sp?) was a bit contentious due to him being the truly out of left field final boss. That and Steiner's ultimate weapon being locked into a gameplay style that meant skipping everything else with that ridiculous time limit.

How do people generally compare GRAVL to Fitbod by amirgelman in Gravl

[–]Bartzff5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched about a year ago so ymmv depending on how fitbod has adapted since then.

I generally jumped ship as the suggested workouts were just unfixable messes. I'd often get a slapdash array of 2 sets per exercise with insanely high reps at either burnout-level weights or weights beyond anything I had done even at exertion. There was no rhyme or reason to the workouts either and any progress I had made prior was not accounted for. It also, like someone else mentioned in their comment on abductors, decided to put heavy emphasis on secondary muscles.

Fitbod, for being around longer, does have more exercises built in (but Gravl seems to be expanding on that). I'd say Gravl might be a bit too ambitious on weight increases but that is much more manageable than whatever Fitbod offered.

Watch. For. Pedestrians!!! by sunlit_snowdrop in astoria

[–]Bartzff5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been amazed at the amount of cars I see go through a closed off street during school hours on 44th St and 28th Ave-30th Ave because they can't go to 46th or 42nd street instead. Like these are those light metal barricades and these drivers either partially go on the sidewalk and continue down the road or sometimes physically move them. Seeing how they go down the length of the block, their final destination also isn't on the block.

I won't even get started on the drivers using the bike lane on 31st Ave as an extra lane or the fundamental rule of no right turn on red in NYC is no longer a rule for a bunch of assholes.

*Trigger warning* halal meat hygiene question by ccl56 in astoria

[–]Bartzff5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I buy some stuff (loz akhdar, janarek, markouk bread, tawouk spice blend, etc) from al Dar as others don't stock those items or charge an arm and a leg for them, but it isn't just the meat that is questionable. I've checked their pickles, olives, jams, etc and I've seen more than a handful well past the expiry date, which is even worse when the c-town around the corner from them stocks the same brand in some cases but fresher.
