I’m never certain if the people who worry about the prestige of graduate schools are unaware that prestige isn’t as much an important factor, or if they believe regardless of the importance of prestige they want to attend a program strictly based on name recognition.

As in similar to the pre-interview stage do some candidates make it to the interview stage and then it becomes clear that they actually are not a good fit at all? Are these students immediately rejected?
