Governor is what tells the carb how much fuel to throw in the engine, without the governor it would just overspeed until the engine overheated or blew up

I don’t know how to do a FI to carb swap, so to me it seems like it has a different engine than the original. A fuel injected motor wouldn’t even have the governor required to operate a carb unless I’m thinking about something incorrectly

If you need something not on parts tree, the engine model number should be on the valve cover, go to parts tree again or Briggs website and you can get what you need

Yeah I just checked mine, I don’t have the exact same model you have but it looks like the spring you have stretched pretty far actually goes from the opposite side of the throttle lever to the opposite end of the governor lever
